    Best RPGA adventures?

There have been quite a few additions to the 1st-4th level adventures. I would hate to run a whole new poll, though, with all the adventures included. Would it be worth while to run a poll with with only the additions since the last poll? I also didn't include the Mini campaign, so I can add that.

    What's your Fifth?

Striker. And when you go to LFR games, strikers are every where. Also, I really like cake and wish I could have chosen both :(

Why do you lke the Primal source?

The recent D&D podcast mentioned how they really put a lot of time into the fluff of Primal Power. It always surprised me by how little fluff is put into the divine power and martial power. But I always liked fluff...

Anyone Have Experience With "Pickup" Games?

Some local RPGAers in my area have been using warhorn.net to schedule regular games. Basically, it lets you create X tables on a specific date and people can sign up to DM, play, or both. It doesn't have to be LFR and you can include adventure descriptions and house rules. Also, it allows...

    Campaign Versus Adventurer

I'm a DM and I liked the fully connected Adventure Paths. I don't usually have enough time to do the work necessary to make a "great" campaign so use APs. I like that I can buy an AP and that is all I need.

    DMG 3 = Epic Focus?

I think I liked a lot of Union. If I remember correctly, it was basically a planar-trade cabal's headquarters and they made sure the peace was kept with their epic magic and epic guards. To me, what I took away was that it was a less edgy Sigil. I liked that it didn't have the philosophical...

3rd Party Products - Do You Care?

I typically don't even consider 3pp. For 3e, the only exception I made was for Paizo's Shackled City AP. For 4e, the only exception I foresee making is for War of the Burning Sky. My problem with what 3pp material I have viewed was that it was either too niche for my tastes or inconsistent...

    Living Forgotten Realms

One issue you may run into is that sometimes there are more people willing to play than are willing to run. At least, that was how it was the first year in my area. Overall, I like the adventures, both as a player and a DM.

[Forked from Mearls] MMOs, virtual vs. imaginary worlds (reply to Umbran)

I may take exception to the claim that the rise in popularity of MMORPGs diminishes fantasy creativity (and creativity in general). My understanding is that WoW's popularity is mostly based on people who do not "consume" other fantasy products. In other words, most of the people playing WoW do...

    Defining "old school" by vote

Another interesting thing is the "DM as referee" and "DM as antagonist" choices. Almost everyone chose one of them, but it is equally divided between the two. I voted DM = antagonist, but, in hindsight, I suspect that had as much to do with my group when I was playing D&D back then. Given...

Have you converted your favorite novels into a campaign setting?

Seriously, do share! I steal characters all the time, but rarely settings. I penciled out a campaign based loosely on the Sharpe books (historical fiction) by Bernard Cornwell but it never went anywhere.

Hands up who wants to play the healing battery?

I don't mind being a healer but I didn't really like being a cleric or a druid. The warlord was the best thing ever for me. I am still a combatant but I also can be good at healing, too. But I have no problem being the healing brick.

Favorite conversion you did? Worst conversion you did?

I converted Against the Giants (2e 25th anniversary edition module) to 3E. Many things worked just fine until I got to the higher level stuff.

Have you converted your favorite novels into a campaign setting?

That would be pretty slick to see. I think Wizard's First Rule could have been a neat setting (though I wouldn't want to deal with anything after the third book).

Why the beer hate? (Forked Thread: What are the no-goes...)

We actually enjoy beer enough at our games that we started a beer club. Every game two people are responsible for bringing a beer they haven't tried. Then we judge them after the game is over. Most of them aren't very good (no one has tried them for a reason!) but we have found some gems. Of...

    Sasserine & Cauldron in Greyhawk

It would be neat to treat Cauldron as a secret city, but Sasserine would probably need to be known a little. One of the underlying assumptions is that Cauldron does a lot of trade with a remote city, so it can definitely be isolated. You could probably build up the difficulty of getting there...

    2010: Is it Dragonlance? (hint)

I would speculate that the best way to do handle it would be like the spellscarred in Forgotten Realms. At 4th level, you can take a multiclass feat appropriate to an order. To advance in the order, you take further feats and then paragon tier gets you into High Wizard of <insert color>.

Clearing out my bookshelf (need advice)

I would think you could sell the Eberron stuff as a set on ebay and get a reasonable price. Same for Ravenloft.

    What makes a setting dull?

I thought Kingdoms of Kalamar was kind of bland. Of course, I can't provide any useful examples of why I found it bland because it was so unmemorable to me.

    Forgotten Realms 4th edition

I wish they would make more adventures for the settings, too. Probably would be a good question for a GenCon seminar...
