Gizmodo Reveals OGL v1.1's 'Term Sheet' Carrots For Selected Publishers

I suspect this is an overstatement. What I would expect is meant is that a large part of the stable/consistent value is in WotC and that one or more of the most consistent high performers are inside WotC's bag of goodies. Toys can be a fickle market and Zuru has been eating their lunch.

I make no claim it would be an effectual defense. Just that it is plausible that it's as much irrational behavior as controlling.

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

Did you not have these thoughts 30 years ago? I know we did. But what we learned as we grew older was how our answers impacted other people and maybe the answers should be reevaluated from time to time.

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

No direct way, no. Indirectly? Everything RPG ( Larp, video game, How to host a Murder, random third-party company ) can damage it. It won't be lasting, because the non-playing public either thinks RPG=D&D or RPG=Final Fantasy. Given the vastly deep knowledge the decision makers with this...

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

Seems like creating a slightly updated D20STL with SRD specific (3.5, 5, and Next) trademark options would be adequate here. Add a requirement to be D20STL marked to be on their online platform and you have plenty of carrot.

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

It looks reasonable. It sounds reasonable. It's the second-oldest trolling tactic. "I'm the reasonable one. Ya'll are just getting overly worked up!"

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

Until we see the exact language this is hyperbole.

Paizo Announces New Irrevocable Open RPG License To Replace the OGL

To the best of my knowledge none if the CC licenses let you mix open and closed material in a publication, so no concept of PI.

D&D 5E (2014) The Overwhelming Dominance of D&D is Bad for Everyone...

If it comes across as a live-action Anime OVA or non-Grim Videogame, it'll be fine. But yes. This is about establishing the traditional media side of the brand ( for the 4th? 5th? time ) and maybe it sticks.
