    Dial Dice

The novelty is the only reason! :) Well, I suppose transport and noise are other factors, but neither particularly convincing ones. As with anything, it's just another way to produce random results during game play. Since I enjoy having variable methods, it works for me!

There's still time for this. Some pretty fun stretch goals! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2009301036/dial-dice-0

How to avoid ridiculous player character builds

I do the same, although I have banned certain classes (ie oriental or gun slinger type) if the theme wasn't appropriate. I do make sure we agree on how any particular spell, feat, skill, etc work before we start so there's no misunderstandings as the game progresses.

    Non-Linear Wound System

I'm not a fan of cumulative injury. While I accept that there is some logic to it, and it's certainly easier to keep track of, I would just rather injury be sometime in and of itself. That said, I'm not big on critical hits and charts either. Trying to find a more intuitive system that doesn't...

    Number of Years Gaming

My books are long gone from my original 83 red box, but I still have 2 crayon colored d10s (one red, one blue) from the set. The last remnants of my gaming past lol

    Number of Years Gaming

As the title says, how many years have you been playing RPG games? I'm not sure if this poll has been done before, but I'm always curious about it.

    "Narrative Options" mechanical?

I'm not sure why you're choosing to make this personal, since we're discussing ideas. I never said it was a tangent, I was saying that in order to further the discussion of narrative I needed to tie my post back into it. After all, isn't that what we're here to discuss and why the sub-topic got...

    "Narrative Options" mechanical?

I'm discussing the same thing. I'm saying it doesn't matter whether someone is making decisions based on meta game or in game knowledge because it's still a player making a choice on what justification they're using to make character decisions. It's only relevant to which method the group as a...

    "Narrative Options" mechanical?

I got the point. I just disagree.

    "Narrative Options" mechanical?

Any action a character takes is a result of player choice. The player may be attempting to play a consistent character, but it still comes down to what the player chooses to do. These actions can be justified however the player wants, but it's still a choice made by the player. A player can...

    Non-Linear Wound System

I am certainly not a math person (linear may indeed be the wrong word) and am far removed from it in my everyday life. That said, what I'm looking for, using your example, is that the second 5 points are not cumulative with the first 5 points. Each hit is it's own separate injury and does not...

Pathfinder 1E Post here if you're a PATHFINDER RPG fan!

On break from PF, but had been playing it since it first came out. It's my go to game when I want a reoccurring game and don't want to invest the time in doing homebrew. The APs are entertaining enough to keep a good 1.5 - 2 years of gaming happening.

    20 years of playing D&D

Just hit my 30th year ('83) this summer! I started just before we moved to Norway (Army Brat). Talk about hard to find gaming books! Thankfully the base carried them (go military support of the game!) and I was able to start collecting books. We switched between 1e and BEMCI pretty easily in the...

    Non-Linear Wound System

I was playing around with something similar. It's still rather linear, just delayed, but it's not a bad system. I'll have to revisit it.

    Non-Linear Wound System

I do like location based injury, but it's hard to implement. I'll check those out.

    Non-Linear Wound System

Fate is the closest I've come across but I still think it's linear in that there is still a predetermined number of wounds before death. I should have described non-linear better I think. What I'm looking for is a non-determined progress toward death. A player doesn't know before hand whether...

Anyone know of a non-linear wound system?

    "Narrative Options" mechanical?

I have conflicting interests in gaming. When I run games, I want to improvise. I don't care about the rules and am more concerned with providing players with the capacity to achieve their goals. When I'm playing, I'm the opposite. I care about the details, rules, and abilities I have. This...
