    February Stinks

Sorry about the troubles, Umbran :( Hope it means things are about to turn for the better. And if nothing else, remember you're one year older and closer to the grave! ;) Many happy (-er) returns!

    Countin Post Count

Post count 0.55 / day, and only 1 week till my 3rd year anniversary on here... It'd be much higher if most of my posts weren't in mime.

New In-Game Slang Based On Your Games

Fun thread ! And my group is proud to have added a little bit to fart lore :) They reminded me of two more: "In the backseat" : Used as a location whenever some character or item gets forgotten for rediculously long periods of time. Came from a game of Cthulhu where 4 of us were playing 2...

New In-Game Slang Based On Your Games

"Ewwww....Rolled a six" Comes from the original Car Wars rules, where a roll of 6 on a handling roll meant that your car had rolled over and was on fire. Used in game and in RL whenever something really bad happens. "I lick my sword!" My players were in the Sunless Citadel and found the...

    You are playing D&D wrong

The only wrong way to play D&D is if you only play it with the people chained up in your crawlspace; I find that they are much more at home in a LARP style environment, but I'm generalizing. Give them some pointed sticks, throw in some rats, and watch the role-playing commence. And never, never...

I'm not paying enough attention to my imaginary friend

Shortly after I first started driving back when I was 16, George Washington started riding in my passenger seat. We discuss current events, music, movies, politics, etc. Every once in a while, he'll still pop in for a visit when my wife isn't riding with me. He's always been kinda a Time Squad...

Dating someone older or younger- seriously.

I'm with the group that says it really depends on what the ages are generationally (someone who went to A New Hope as a child vs someone who saw Titanic as a child), what your experiences are (whether you've both been divorced, in the army, have careers, etc.), an what your maturity levels are...

Are you creeped out by something benign..something like clowns? Teletubbies?

Watching my own blood be drawn. I can put needles in people all day long, I can cut myself on something and watch myself bleed, but have someone put a nice sterile needle in my arm and start removing blood and I'll pass out in a heartbeat. I can stand on top of a building or a tall glass...

AD&D second edition: Why be hatin'?

No hate for 2e here, simply absolutely no experience with it whatsoever. The group I was in at the time went "no thank you" when the new edition came out and there was suddenly new versions of all the expensive (to us on student wages) rulebooks. We were also a bit burnt out on D&D at that time...

Does anyone else hate the planes?

Very true, and I've never said otherwise and couldn't care less what other people do in their games. However, the topic of this thread is "does anyone else hate the planes" and I believed that giving a bit more of a reason than just "yes" would be a better answer to the question :) ...

    Elvish chain is beautiful.

Artistically, it's a very nice piece of illustration. Gaming and realistically, her silver spandex ain't no different from a chain-mail bikini, except that since it don't show no actual skin, we can take the high ground and pretend we ain't oggling her boobs. :)

Does anyone else hate the planes?

Agree with the Gneech; IMHO plane-hopping and the like have moved into the "Drow File": cool and mysterious as an initial idea, way too commonplace now. And I left D&D when 2e came out, so I have no Planescape nostalgia either :)

Vote for the unofficial DnD Mascot!

So badly wanted to vote for everyone's favorite kobold, but he doesn't really scream "D&D" to me as much as "3rd Edition". I had to go with the iconic D&D monster, the beholder. Heck, even Courtney Solomon knew he had to have a beholder or it was just another bad fantasy movie.

Will there be a sequal to ToEE?

As Kosh put it so well, "There are 3 sides to every story, your side, my side, and the truth." Between that and Yoda's "Do, or do not. There is no try," it is strange that some of the best philosophy of today was spoken by puppets :)

A Role Players Guide to Getting Chicks/Dudes: Pick-up lines?

    1) Wanna earn some extra experience? I can help you "level up"! 2) Can I store my Immovable Rod in your Portable Hole? Of course, for my non-gaming wife it would have to be: 3) Yes, Hon, I'll throw away all my game stuff and grow up

    Your First Gaming Book?

My first RPG book was the 4th edition blue Basic Set when I was 15; I had so much fun coercing my family and friends into playing :) Still have the rule book and B1 module, the front of the box, and those horrible, horrible dice :)

How many of you would consider playing an older version of D&D?

Would gladly play. Had years of fun with 1e. Wouldn't give up 3rd for it, though.

Safety Message from the Local Trucker

Personally, I'd prefer to pass up getting hit by either the semi-tractors of the U.S., the Road Trains of Australia, or the CollosoMegaCrawlers of Antares Beta 12.

How long did it take your PCs in *real* time to complete the Sunless Citadel advent

My group that started the Adventure Path hasn't finished it yet, due to (in a minor way) a few side treks and (in a major way) Real Life (tm) constraints; so I guess I have to choose the 5-year plan.

    Leveling speed

If I still got to play the way I did back in the halcyon days of college, it would be too fast. However, I'm now in the seemingly common group of "job, wife, kids, mortgage; multiply times number of players" and it is a good speed; they all might one day see a level over 10 (something that never...
