The only wrong way to play D&D is if you only play it with the people chained up in your crawlspace; I find that they are much more at home in a LARP style environment, but I'm generalizing. Give them some pointed sticks, throw in some rats, and watch the role-playing commence. And never, never...

I'm with the group that says it really depends on what the ages are generationally (someone who went to A New Hope as a child vs someone who saw Titanic as a child), what your experiences are (whether you've both been divorced, in the army, have careers, etc.), an what your maturity levels are...

Very true, and I've never said otherwise and couldn't care less what other people do in their games. However, the topic of this thread is "does anyone else hate the planes" and I believed that giving a bit more of a reason than just "yes" would be a better answer to the question :) ...

Artistically, it's a very nice piece of illustration. Gaming and realistically, her silver spandex ain't no different from a chain-mail bikini, except that since it don't show no actual skin, we can take the high ground and pretend we ain't oggling her boobs. :)

Agree with the Gneech; IMHO plane-hopping and the like have moved into the "Drow File": cool and mysterious as an initial idea, way too commonplace now. And I left D&D when 2e came out, so I have no Planescape nostalgia either :)

So badly wanted to vote for everyone's favorite kobold, but he doesn't really scream "D&D" to me as much as "3rd Edition". I had to go with the iconic D&D monster, the beholder. Heck, even Courtney Solomon knew he had to have a beholder or it was just another bad fantasy movie.

As Kosh put it so well, "There are 3 sides to every story, your side, my side, and the truth." Between that and Yoda's "Do, or do not. There is no try," it is strange that some of the best philosophy of today was spoken by puppets :)

My first RPG book was the 4th edition blue Basic Set when I was 15; I had so much fun coercing my family and friends into playing :) Still have the rule book and B1 module, the front of the box, and those horrible, horrible dice :)

Would gladly play. Had years of fun with 1e. Wouldn't give up 3rd for it, though.

Personally, I'd prefer to pass up getting hit by either the semi-tractors of the U.S., the Road Trains of Australia, or the CollosoMegaCrawlers of Antares Beta 12.

My group that started the Adventure Path hasn't finished it yet, due to (in a minor way) a few side treks and (in a major way) Real Life (tm) constraints; so I guess I have to choose the 5-year plan.

If I still got to play the way I did back in the halcyon days of college, it would be too fast. However, I'm now in the seemingly common group of "job, wife, kids, mortgage; multiply times number of players" and it is a good speed; they all might one day see a level over 10 (something that never...
