    New/Revised Prestige Classes

Adaptability is a big thing for rogues, IMO; so maybe an Anyfeat every ten levels? That would be what?... 12 feats right there. If you went with a 1 + 1/10 (i.e. granting an Anyfeat at 1st, 10th, and 20th) that would account for 18 of those 23 feats, leaving you five to play with; make those...

    Version 5 Excel Machine

Yeah, I had a few days fiddling with a different approach to treasure, but managed to get this baby uploaded today. The error messages will relate to the macros, or to the compatibility variances between Office 07 and 03. All harmless, I assure you. :)

    Version 5 Excel Machine

Hello, ladies and gents. I've recently gone through the immodest trouble of writing an Excel program that handles v.5 of the Challenge Rating system. Now, it's not very tricky to use: just click the + sign beneath the rows you want to open and fill in the appropriate data. Data selection in...

    I second the above inquiry.

    New/Revised Prestige Classes

I like how each of UK's class revisions seem to serve as soapboxes for other people who want to go and prove something 'wrong' about 'optional' material presented with no intention of replacing the standing mechanics.

    New/Revised Prestige Classes

I think this Barbarian redux is very cool, reminds me of the Diablo II barbarian in ways. I like the rage mechanics going up the way you have them, I think spirits is a neat ability and very 'tribal'; kudos, UK. Nice job.

Flatly wrong. Lingering Attack is a metamartial feat that allows you to take a -5 to force the opponent to make a Fort save (DC = attack roll) on your next turn or suffer half the damage again.

I dunno, WD. Lingering Attack is amazing for it's cost of one measly feat.

I don't think you did; but I don't need you to have said anything to examine the idea, do I? I was examining the idea of what losing iteratives might look like if we take into account the statistical nature of the beast.

    Epic Advice Column

It's simple, even if my explanation isn't. :) Since each 'attack' isn't necessarily a 'swing' of the weapon, iterative attacks (i.e. more attacks per round) are really just net increases to the statistical average damage a fighter puts out every round, yes? And that average is determined by...

    New/Revised Prestige Classes

I see; yes. The system as a whole does call for a lot more brain work that the standard fighter. I sometimes forget all the option in a metamartial environment and you have a point: if metamartial is an option like disarming, why wouldn't you try to do some crazy stuff like break legs, hit more...

Chill pill, WD. The man's opinion isn't wrong - it's his opinion: if someone thinks iteratives are clunky than they think iteratives are clunky. Now whether the opinion has merit in an objective discussion is a different animal. By and large, you're right about people who can't deal with...

    New/Revised Prestige Classes

Hey hey, UK! Good point; not conceding the issue, however. A trend that tends to speed up combat; so if a fighter can hit with a margin of 10, odds are good that they'll risk the margin in exchange for more damage. This They don't. Their first attack is at standard skill; their following...

    New/Revised Prestige Classes

I think the fighter class is fine the way it is, though I think some of the abilities you put in your version would make great high-level feats. I also think that losing iterative attacks could be very problematic, even if it does simplify things. I'd take a 20/15/10/5 over a 5/5/5/5 any day of...

    Epic Advice Column

Remember that bite damage is all three types. There doesn't seem to be any major difference between this sort of of mail and 'regular' chain mail, other than the material out of which it is made. For the most part, the chains deter the animal from holding on once they have bitten; those who are...
