Immortals Handbook - Epic Bestiary (Epic Monster Discussion)

Hey, UK; could you let us know what the new CRs for the high-end golems are, or will we have to wait another 18 days?

Yeah, that's not a fun time, figuring that out.

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

Maybe for Revenge (Quasi-deity), you could have a +20 bonus on any reaction-attempt to disarm/trip/etc when an attacker fails to pull off that sort of move on you, and a +40 for double.

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

DING!! Give this man the Kewpie doll, he just nailed it on the head.

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

So, aggravated dispositions aside, what is the end solution that the nay-sayers think will 'solve' the 'imbalance' of the orb spells? Spell Resistance? Sometimes, the caster will penetrate SR, so will the problem still exist? No save versus damage? Sometimes, the target will fail the save...

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

That's a lot of sodium! :) But seriously, I don't know how well I like that definition, because it leaves most of 3.5 in the grey area of imbalance. And that, my friends, makes this entire discussion moot.

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

I think I've made clear why I feel my points are true, but we can go back and forth. En garde! :) I haven't put words in anyone else's mouth, I'm just stating what I consider a fact. Just because the orbs don't acknowledge SR -- since the magic involved conjured non-magical substances --...

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

And my argument will stand under any circumstances where yours won't. A clever DM won't worry about one group of conjuration spells; they certainly won't come crying to the boards to try and change everyone else's mind on using those spells. 'Imbalance' only really sticks as a label on things...

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

No, but the option is there, so this gross overpowered nature of the orb spell group is being overplayed by its opponents.

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

That's your call, but they're largely true. 1) True. It's good, but it's not the end of the world some of you are making it out to be. 3) With which parts do you disagree? 4) True. We can even bat this back and forth all day, but it would only prove my point. 6) Name one damage-dealing spell...

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

Bad argument. BBEGs should be default have a strong defense against the party's strengths, either through environment or preparation. To do otherwise is to invite the sort of thing that causes the misconception that certain effects/items/spells are overpowered when in reality all it takes is...

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

RigaMortus2 says it all. If the DM can't prepare around the banality of his PCs, then it's his problem, not the orb spells that are affecting his game. I mean, c'mon... entropic shield is a 20% miss chance on those spells, SR or not. Mirror image is a tremendous defense against those spells, SR...

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

Hey all, Not to be a jerk, but I'm not real keen on reading 10 pages to get in the mix here, so I'll be concise and preface this with a blanket apology if I mention something that's been said already. In the long term, I think the orb spells are arguably balanced based on their inability to...

I for one completely disagree with dante... again. The artifact/ability system needs serious hammering out. The idea in place (drop an item, gain an esoteric) is functional, but really... open-ended. If instead the standard was to gain ability points then yes, the trade-offs would become more...

Immortals Handbook - Grimoire (Artifacts, Epic Magic discussion)

Looks manageable; I'll go ahead with this until Grimore (i.e. 2011 :p )

Immortals Handbook - Grimoire (Artifacts, Epic Magic discussion)

Brass tacks, though... I just want to get this clear in my own head. Abilities into enchantments: what's the verdict? Feat +2, Divine +5, Cosmic +25, Trans +125, Omni +625?

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

Well, I'm really looking forward to the art. What do you use? Water-soluble greyscales for the interior art? Tuesday sounds fun, so I'll keep my fingers crossed. Edit: Is there a section/blurb on exchanging items for more abilities? If not, there really needs to be and it needs to be declared...

Hey hey, UK. How's the rest of the text coming? Any chance of seeing the finished text by Monday? Don't get too sidetracked on other projects until you finish the one you sold! :p
