    D&D 4E The Deadmines in 4e

Well, given the disparity between encounter structure in 4e vs. WoW, you'd have to populate the instance with many encounters of much lower-level than the PCs. So, if you're going for a level 5-6 range, you'd probably want to use enemies of level 2-4, tops. This way, you could have well over...

    Epic Experience Points

The bigger question is: what's the point of playing at ECL 409? At that level, are you really rolling dice anymore, or are you just telling a story? ...and as far as Excel goes: http://openoffice.pro-2010.com/openoffice/index.php?pflow=icc

    Epic Experience Points

Open Excel. In cell A1, type "1"; in cell A2, type "2". Drag that down to whatever level you want to deal with. Now, in cell B1, type "0"; in cell B2, type "=sum(A1*1000)+B1". Drag that down to whatever level you want to deal with. Done. (BTW: 83,436,000 XP for ECL 409, if my 3E mind hasn't...

    Astral Seal % a +2 Holy Symbol

That's what I thought... I had to "Rule 0" my girlfriend on that issue. Is there a source?

    Astral Seal % a +2 Holy Symbol

If I roll a 20, does Astral Seal deal the +2d6 for being a +2 implement? Whatever the ruling, is there a source? Thanks! B-) EDIT: fat fingers. "Astral Seal & a +2 Holy Symbol"

    Vampire Bestiary

I've always had the idea in the back of my mind that a regular ol' zombie is the bottom-rung undead, but once it eats enough brains or innards or whatever, it becomes a ghoul - malicious, cannibalistic, semi-intelligent undead. A ghoul that survives long enough and kills often enough eventually...

    Eternal Patriarch (Epic Destiny)

I've seen EDs with the "when you die" thing at both 24th and 30th (Fey Liege, from AP, IIRC). That said, I'll take it into consideration. :) I don't mind the flavor restrictions; some EDs have particular flavor tunnels that sorta "force" PCs into, so I'm not alone in that here. And yeah, the...

    Eternal Patriarch (Epic Destiny)

Taking a crack at an epic destiny here. The theme is of an eternal "father figure" sort of thing, where a character achieves a state of immortality tied to his bloodline. It's not gender-exclusive; the text mentions matriarchs, I just didn't want a bunch of he/shes running around. :) Let me...

Norton is a joke. Seriously, I've never had an issue with Krust's site on half a dozen machines. Try AVG. It'll do a better job than Norton and with none of the proprietary garbage or uninstallation ruination.

    Vampire Bestiary

At level 3, a well-rounded party could handle one of these things... by well-rounded, I mean a party with at least one leader, a striker and a defender. She just doesn't have the HP to last against a rogue flanking with a fighter supported by a cleric with sacred flame and/or astral seal.

My first take at a 4e god

Nice. Looking forward to it, as usual. :) True enough. I take it then that your write-ups won't include such demarcations? Ah... I see. Yeah. Why do or when you can do and? Ah, well... I never denied the creativity of 4e monsters, just the rationale of 4e marking mechanics and exploit...

My first take at a 4e god

Makes sense. I only see one place where Ogoun deals simultaneous damage, and it's fire and thunder (the aura). Krust mentioned fire and weapon, and the only thing that stands out is Rhythm, which is multiple attack rolls in a single standard action. Well, you don't have to build them on a...

My first take at a 4e god

Yeah, I was being stubborn, no doubt about that. :D At 36 Solo he's roughly a 45th-level creature, right? I figured that the low-end of Greater for a transatlantic god of war and fire and iron (three major staples of civilization) would be high, but justified. Definitely. :) Ah, great...

My first take at a 4e god

Hi, yeah... he's obscure and powerful :) I'm thinking of taking a shot at Samedi next, if Ogoun keeps getting good reactions. I think the Blood Drunk power puts in mind a terrific urgency on the leaders in the party to keep people from dying. +25% health on a kill is a mean power, and if he...

My first take at a 4e god

Hey UK, I've swallowed my gripes on 4e, I suppose. At the end of the day, the streamlining is well-worth the cost of exploit limits and haphazard marking mechanics. After reading some threads here on ENWorld about gods, levels, etc, I've kitbashed a god from the African/Caribbean pantheon and...

    Encounter difficulty with 3 players

Well, 450 XP budget at 1st level is too high. 100 per PC at first level, IIRC. Fix that and your troubles should ebb away.
