A couple of questions on 4E Immortal design

Tulkas, from Middle-earth mythology might be a good fit here.

A couple of questions on 4E Immortal design

One other thing that just occurred to me: treasure parcels. Should be fun working those out for the Exalted+ tiers...

A couple of questions on 4E Immortal design

Hey hey, UK. I'd like to see this. The plethora of feats for 3E characters (not even taking Multifaceted into account) provided no end of book keeping and power balance trouble. On top of that, it would be fairly easy to use heroic->paragon->epic precedent to describe good boundaries for...

A couple of questions on 4E Immortal design

Hey hey, Here's my question: why do you always release a monster book before the PC rules? :P No, but seriously, I am curious if the sketched out ideas on the immortality webpage still bear any likeness to what's currently going on in that noggin of yours. For instance... You say Portfolio...

    How do you RP marking?

Multiple marks overriding each other does stick in the craw, but the encounter doesn't happen, as mentioned before, in a vacuum. There should be some sort of literal dynamic at the table explaining how the rules are becoming "the reality" of the game. Still, that sounds very Rule #0 Fallacy to...

Krust, What are your thoughts on...

I can come up with some placebo-like explanation, too. Like Grit, or Martial Endurance, but a little bit of dress-up also doesn't change the fact that I have an issue with stances, as well as other Martial powers, being limited the same way spells are. That's like trying to pour A1 Steak Sauce...

Krust, What are your thoughts on...

Well, I think you've fully answered my question. You can stop selling it so hard. :) When it comes to the disassociated mechanics of 4E, you drain it all down with a tall glass of "still better than 3rd". While that position is largely unassailable, the burden of bad design still weighs heavily...

Krust, What are your thoughts on...

Well put, though I wouldn't say I'm "looking for excuses", just wary about what seems to me to be the hardest change from 3rd to 4th: that sudden leap into universal and fully cinematic class abilities.

Krust, What are your thoughts on...

Hey hey, UK. :) It certainly resolves the resource management issue prevalent in 3E. Absolutely. In cases like that, though, the limitation is usually obvious and reasonable. I gather from this that you don't mind a rogue power usable only once per day, as long as the damage/effect lines up...

Krust, What are your thoughts on...

I can see what you're saying on a lot of the Martial Encounter/Daily powers, but not all of them. Some are tactical maneuvers that should be repeatable ad infinitum, like Trick Strike - they're powers that you either know how to do or not. Instead, they're distilled down to purely cinematic...

Krust, What are your thoughts on...

...4E's disassociated mechanics? By that, I mean: • the arbitrary limits on Martial powers (daily, per encounter). It seems to me that while it's readily explainable why a magical (or even primal-powered) character can only pull off certain maneuvers a limited number of times in a given day...

    Custom divine abilities, portfolios, etc.

What is the point of a game where the modifiers so grossly outclass the variable effect? why not just compare static values and resolve the course of history in one sitting?

    Cloverfield - The Immortal's Handbook 4E to 3.5 Conversion

Hiya. Well, how many inches of skin must you presuppose to have this bouncing effect? Sure his arms are thick, but 90% of that tissue is soft meat and inner bone. And by tank shells, I must suppose that you don't imply armor piercing shells or high-explosive anti-tank weapons.

    Epic/Immortal Prestige Classes

Frankly, the idea of turning my PC into a weapon has been a terrible one since the Sword portfolio.
