We have a bard who's acquired a level item (Dragon 289) in the form of a lute, but can't think of any ideas of what powers to have it grant (the rest of the party has similar items and were easier to decide upon. So, taking suggestions from the masses.

Level 1 Rogue: +1d6 sneak attack Level 1 Lasher: +1d6 sneak attack with a whip (Arcane Trickers doesn't say where the sneak attack comes from, just that you need +2d6, and the DM agreed to it).

Well, the goal was to increase the combat stuff a bit (sneak attack) while retaining higher casting ability, so Arcane Trickster works. Plus, with the 1 level of lasher, he can threaten with the whip, so can stand behind the more combat-oritented people and still get in sneak attacks.

Being the multi-decade veterenn that I am, I prefer random rolling to stat buy. And hey, I got two low rolls, lets try a low physical character :) he utterly sucks in combat, but he's a god when it comes to city stuff. But the combat stuff tends to hurt him.

The quick version. Bard 8/Rogue 1/Lasher 1 - will take 10 levels in Arcane Trickster. He has a Str of 7 and a Dex of 8 How can I make up for that shortfall, beyond using Str/Dex enhancers.

Perform isn't necessarioly the only multi-stat skill... hard to see an orc barbarian intimidate with charisma, but if he picks you up with one hand and slams you against a wall, that's pretty intimidating, just use stength as the modifier :) Course, there's also some performs that should get...

Ok, this whole armor thing is giving me a brain hemmorhage... someone answer this for me... If a wizard puts on a plate of full plate mail, and the uses polymorph to change into... oh, an elf... and everything he's wearing merges with him... ... does he still have arcane spell failure?

how about we drop the weapon focus feat, and give up Up the Walls instead. Zip at 200+ MPH, readied wall of stone, just go over it :) Also remember, with 3.5 rules, a character going that fast would most likely just jump over the wall.
