I'm not a fan of front-loading classes as a general rule, so I can't say I'm a fan of the idea of giving more maneuvers at 1st level. Also, I think we need to see how multiclassing works before we understand any balance issues that may come up as a result.

Legends of Anglerre (FATE) would be my suggestion.

I just finished Lamentation by Ken Scholes, which was utterly fantastic (and I highly recommend it). I'm next going to dive into The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson and on deck after that is The Crown Conspiracy by Michael J. Sullivan.

My best advice for running a LoA game (any Fate game, really) would be to focus first on aspects in any encounter design. What aspects to the characters have that is relevant, what are the aspects of their opponents, and (just as important) what are the aspects of the scene/zones.

I recommend looking at Legends of Anglerre for your fantasy gaming needs. It's a FATE game (if you're familiar) and it's full of awesome gaming goodness.

You might want to take a look at BASH!. It is one of the nominees for best rules this year (and I'm not surprised).

Altered Carbon by Richard K. Morgan...and it's full of awesome and win.
