The Magic Items that WotC cannot publish

Exactly what I was trying to say only you said it much better.

The Magic Items that WotC cannot publish

I certainly agree with you in spirit, I just think I see the wisdom in not making such items core to the ruleset and anything printed by WotC is considered core these days. It could back some DMs (who maybe are not as firm as they should be with certain players) into a corner. Heck, this could...

The Magic Items that WotC cannot publish

I think that WotC just knows that if you print it players will cry for it. Players tend to moan a lot. They kick and scream and claw for power and when you deny them that power you're a badwrongDM. Let DMs tempt fate by messing with gamebalance at their own peril; sometimes it will work, but...

The Magic Items that WotC cannot publish

I'm fine with WotC not publishing such a book, really. Leave it to DM creativity (or stealing from other sources) to create unique items for their campaign. I find that my four volumes of Encyclopedia Magica are extremely useful in this regard, but I injest such items when I want to.

    Wound System

This is fantastic stuff. I made a few modifications to suit my own tastes, but I have to give props where they are due.

    I need coldweather monsters!

I know the session has come and gone, but this is a simple re-skinning job waiting to happen. Take a spider, add white fur and you've got yourself a wolly frost spider. Instead of using webs to entrap you, it exhales an incredibly cold liquid that litterally freezes its targets in ice. Etc...

    "Siloing" feats?

It was just this last weekend that the group of PCs were bemoaning the fact that nobody in the group was trained in Diplomacy...not a one. They really felt the pinch and it made an impact on the level of information they recieved; information that they desperately need. Admittedly, I have a...

    Does the DM guide...

I put these kinds of encounters in my adventures all of the time, but my players know that not all encounters are designed with the PCs victory in mind. Sometimes, I even design encounters that are designed to encourage the PCs to run for their lives. I think when encounters fall too neatly...

4E - 18 Months Later: Love it or hate it?

I love 4e. Sure, there are a few things that could be better (I'm looking at you, Mr. Bland Magic Item), but the gameplay and prep (DDI is full of awesome and win) can't be touched as far as I'm concerned.

Love it or hate it, 3e style

I voted Mixed Bag. While I recognize some great things about the 3e era, I don't think I could ever really bring myself to play or DM that edition again. I honestly don't think much of 95% of OGL created material, but there are a few gems in there like Mutants and Masterminds. Most of it really...

How much to "charge" PCs between adventures? (cost of living)

I'm with Morrus on this...where's the fun? Why does it matter? How come these characters with all of their talents can't find a way to sustain themselves (heck, why can't they make a profit)?

TIPS Sought for Sustainable Sci-Fi (not Star Wars) Gaming

Diaspora is a FATE based "hard sci-fi" setting, which incorporates mini-games to handle things like social or squad based combat. It is very good stuff. You can check out the SRD here.

What Science Fiction Games are being played these days?

I'd go with Diaspora myself. It is FATE set in a hard sci-fi universe. Amazing stuff.

Best system for a modern/super thriller?

I'd go with FATE myself. I don't know about SotC, but the rules in Diaspora would be perfect for this kind of thing. Especially with their social combat mini-game.

Third Party: If So, Then What?

Radically different settings. They don't even need to feel like D&D, they just need to work within the 4e ruleset. I'm tired of WotC's philosophy of "everything must fit into each of our settings" way of making settings. Then take said setting and only add the crunch needed to support the fluff...

Calling 4e designers & developers.... Please explain the skills to class ratio

Well, when the group was asked to make Endurance checks for that climb up the mountainside to reach the cave where they are fighting, those that made that check didn't have to spend a healing surge and having more healing surges sure seem useful in combat. Also, the fact that you can be...

    Brainstorming ideas for quicker gameplay

For my money, I'd go with index card initiative (none of the products sold are as fast in my experience). As a DM I started having the players track all of the conditions they put down on their opponents (in addition to any conditions on themselves, naturally). This has drastically made combat...

Calling 4e designers & developers.... Please explain the skills to class ratio

Skills are very useful in combat; they count.
