D&D 4E If 4e fails you, what then?

If 4E fails me? Give up D&D for a while. But I think I'll like it.

    Minions: Known or Unknown?

Unless the books say or imply that players should know which ones are minions, they will be kept secret. I see no reason for players to know game terms like "minion" in regards to their foes. They will learn over time, and then that little bit of uncertainty and magic of the new rules will be...

How will you read the core books day one?

I'm sure I'll start by just flipping through them and getting a general feel for them. I'll most likely start reading the PHB next, but I have never read a large RPG book cover to cover. I'll definitely give it a go, however.

D&D 4E How Do You Plan to Fix 4E?

I'm just going to run it as written. I've been totally open-minded about odd changes so far, and don't foresee a problem. I'm going to play it on the designers' terms and assume they knew what they were doing. I will see what they have in store for me! Things have initially rubbed me the...

    "Solo" players?

First, whatever happened to "solo" meaning you play your own character vs. rolls from a random dungeon creation table, with no DM? Ah well... most of my early gaming was, in fact, with one DM and one PC, so your new-fangled concept of solo is not totally foreign to me either. :) Second, why...

The Travesty! The Horror! Male Medusae.

Actually, there are no such thing as Medusae. There is only Medusa, she was a Gorgon. Given that D&D has always used her name as a species rather than an individual from mythology, however, I'm inclined to use male Medusae in the game. :)

    D&D 4E I may have had a 4e epiphany...

Just a quick congrats on "getting it", Lizard. You truly must unlearn what you have learned! I think with the proper mindset this edition has great potential and will be fun. You just have to see where they are coming from with the rules and what you're intended to do with them, that's all.

    It's the little things...

The pages may smear, tear an deteriorate but at least it's in color... priorities, people! That's what "high quality" printing means in this day and age of higher-cost RPG products, right? It's not functional as a reusable adventure like in the old days, but, gee, it looks pretty! Ok, sorry...

    Character Sheet Released

Yikes. I was hoping that the 4E sheet would be nicer-looking and not such a strain on the eyes compared to the 3E version. Looks like that's not the case at all, sadly. Good thing I'm very handy with making my own that are both functional and nice to look at.

Review of 4E on Aint It Cool News

Good observation. I hadn't caught that, myself, but I love it! In my mind that's how magic ought to work, anyhow. :)

Review of 4E on Aint It Cool News

Yes you can. 3E was the first (and, I guess now, only) "advanced" edition of the game to not do this.

    D&D 4E D&D 4E Character Sheet Previewed on Wired.com

As I understood it, there will be both landscape and portrait versions. EDIT: Beaten again!

    When did you enjoy 3.x?

I liked 3rd edition when it first came out. I bought into the promises that they were finally going to make sense of the game. At first it seemed like they did, and I was happy with it. Once I started playing more regularly, I realized the gameplay experience was no better than it was before...

    Minions are:

I'm fine with minions in 4E. I think they are fixing a problem that I never had, and would prefer just giving them low HP, etc. (weaklings beating the odds can be fun, even when it's a bad guy runt winning vs. a stronger PC), but I don't mind them having 1 HP either. I'm going to use them as...

    D&D 4E 4E with a party of two?

Don't eyeball. Calculate. 4E was designed to make this easy to do.

    Five Alignments?

Stop. Take a deep breath. Wait for the books and then read the alignment section in context with the rest of the game. THEN freak out over the change, if you so choose. ;)

    D&D 4E No evil gods in 4e?

I'm certain there are evil gods in D&D 4E.

Hiding the PHB from players - Cool or Restrictive?

I wouldn't personally do it. I think seeing the new classes and choosing what most appeals to them is part of the new edition fun, and you would be denying them that, possibly souring them on the game or on you as the DM. However, if you explain to them what your goal is, and they all agree...

Dragonborn & Tieflings: What is their place in your world?

I'm incredibly boring. I will be using them the way the rulebooks present them, using whatever background info is mentioned in the text. But my game will be a fresh start, since I am not trying to adapt an old world to new rules.

How big will my character sheet be?!

The official character sheets come with power cards you can fill out. Edit: Beaten! PS: There's no way I'm copying the same info over and over and over again onto blank cards, or asking my players to. I'm making cards that I can print and hand out whenever a character gains a new power.
