    Anyone still using 3.0?

I never bought 3.5 anything, so 3.0 was the version we used back when I still played 3E. I don't play it anymore though, because I dislike 3E. I also think the last "true" D&D (or should that be traditional D&D) version was 2nd edition. 3E changed a lot...

    Necromancer Games-update by Orcus

I'd love to see Clark and company make their own Necromancer RPG, then support it with modules. I'd be on board with that in a big way.

    HELP! Avenger issue

He gave himself an advantage, and you need to punish him for it? Why not let him have his high AC and stop worrying that you can't hit him "enough"? That's what high ACs are for, and what makes him happy. Why must all PC abilities be equal, and similar hits/damage suffered by all?

    Canon isn't realistic...

Agreed completely with the OP... great post. I personally find canon takes away from any setting far more than it gives. It exposes all the little flaws and inconsistencies that would otherwise be glossed-over. It also tends to expose it as a created world rather than a "real" one, since...

    What's Mystara's Hook?

What difference does it make if Mystara has a hook or not? A 4E version would be 4E-ized anyhow, and become like the standard 4E stuff. It has a distinct hook as much as the FR or any other "D&D style" world does. If you want a real attempt at explaining the hook, well, it's that Mystara is a...

If you can find a group that plays a pre-3.0 version of D&D or Retroclone would you:

Kind of a weird poll question, since I do play older editions as well as a regular 4E game, but... of course I'd play a long-term campaign with an older set of rules. No matter the edition, the game is no less fun with a DM and players who are into it. It's kinda' silly to turn down fun...

Was 4e design based around the suite of proposed D&Di tools? EDIT: found quote.

Virtual Tabletop issues aside, I distinctly recall WotC people saying that they designed the game so that it wouldn't need to have the rules altered when ported over to video games and the like, so it could remain "official D&D rules" no matter the medium or platform. This was at a convention...

Level Up! ? Kncockspell? KQ? Fight On! ?

I buy Knockspell in PDF. I'd get it in print if I had more money to spend on such things, but for now, printing the articles I plan to use off the PDF is good enough. I would buy Fight On! if I had the money, also. Plan to in the future, maybe get all the issues at once. For the curious, I...

D&D 4E Is character death acceptable in 4e? If so, how often?

Death should happen as often as the PCs get into a situation where it happens to them. Why coddle? Why build your games so a death or TPK will "ruin" it? If they die, they die. Time for new PCs. It's not like 4E isn't already very, very kind in the way of helping PCs recognize they are in...

    2010: Is it Dragonlance? (hint)

They originated in the Monster Cards supplement for AD&D (1st edition), and had no association with the as-yet unpublished Forgotten Realms. As for Dragonlance, as someone who has no stake in it and is not a fan, it sure does sound like the evidence is showing it will be the next setting. Any...

What level of technology WON'T you go beyond with your tabletop gaming?

I don't use any of those things when we're actually playing. I am not opposed to PDFs and the like for preparation though (but I do print off anything I want to use in the game.)

I currently play x edition and I do or don't buy 3pp stuff. A POLL

I find most WotC material stale and boring, so yeah... I like the 3rd party stuff. Unlike WotC, they all seem to remember what D&D is and make products accordingly, even for 4th edition. That said, I buy very little D&D stuff at all. It has to be really well done and applicable to my game.

    Your Favorite Halfling?

I don't really like halflings, but my favorite kind of halfling is a Hobbit. That's what they are, after all.

Worst case scenario: Could WotC "break" the whole industry?

I agree with this. Even if we somehow lost the D&D brand due to WotC's actions, a lot of D&D players would find something else to buy. There's never been an RPG industry without someone publishing D&D though, so nobody could really say what would happen.

WotC president Greg Leeds and I!!!

I'd second this, but add every previous edition, not just 3E. Speaking of which, why are the questions/suggestions of this thread meant to only be "from fans of 3E" and not "from fans of earlier editions"?

Forked Thread: marketing 4e (was 10:1 downloads)

Of course it was. That's because D&D (rightly or wrongly) has been forever branded as a nerd activity, yet WotC insists on wasting ad money trying to convince non-nerds to try it with these cutesy wannabe-mainstream ads. Most people, like it or not, hear "Dungeons & Dragons" and dismiss it...

Edition Bias and 4e Sales Perception

I like 4E (but don't think it plays like D&D should). I suspect the sales are not nearly what WotC would prefer, except maybe on major books "everyone" wants, like ones containing major new classes and PC races.

How do you feel about Skill Challenges?

I have never used skill challenges in the game yet, and they are not missed. I ignore them completely, as do the others I game with. I think their development is an evolutionary dead end for D&D, since the things they seek to provide special rules for really don't need special rules. We've...

    What is it about rogues?

Wrong. Gygax wasn't involved with the 2nd edition, and if he wrote about this in 1st edition, he was talking about Thieves, not Rogues. Try to learn and understand the game's roots before criticizing.

I'd just like to hear Mr. Leeds tell us some anecdotes about his D&D character. :)
