    Celestial Codex Series?

I voted no, simply because Celestials don't get a lot of use in my games. Demons and devils, on the other hand, make for great antagonists, especially at higher levels.

    How'd he do that?!?!

Considering how the music continued playing even when he had the bow off of the fiddle (violin, whatever), it doesn't strike me as being all that exceptional. :)

    City Survivor - Round 6!

I love Eberron, but I hate Sharn. It is just so radically different from all the other cities in the world, and yet it is showcased as the Waterdeep of Eberron. I think it gives people the wrong impression of what Eberron is like.

    Derogatory term for cohort

"Bob" was our nickname for any disposable redshirt mook. It came from pro wrestler Bob Backland. Back then, we watched WWF, and it seemed like they would always have the big-name wrestlers pitted against some nobody, and Bob Backland was like the king of the nobodies. So Bob became our name...

    Early clerics and the gods

One of my first characters in (Basic) D&D was a cleric. I didn't have a god for her. I think I just assumed she served the Light or some similar generic god-force. I only played her for one session so it never really came up.

What race would you like to see?

Something with wings, maybe? Is it even possible to have the ability to fly and still be LA +0?

The bulette: Make it cool as hell

They used to eat halflings. IMC, they also eat gnomes.

    What settings do you love?

Another vote for Iron Kingdoms, although IK is such a departure from traditional D&D as to nearly be another creature entirely. Eberron is an interesting setting, although I found that I had to make a lot of tweaks/changes to it to make it work for me and my group. Greyhawk and Forgotten...

    Poll: DM, GM, or Other?

I use DM only for D&D. I use GM for most other games, although if there is a specific term for a game (Storyteller for WW, Keeper for CoC, etc.), chances are I will use it.

Your first brush with D&D (OF ANY STRIPE)

The year was 1983; I was 9 or 10 at the time. I first became aware of D&D when I saw Elliot's older brother and his friends playing it in the movie E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial. I'm not sure how I figured out what it was they were playing, but the next thing I knew, my dad and I were at a hobby...

How often do PCs make an orderly retreat?

In the last two campaigns I played in, there was a wizard in the party. Every once in a while, we would take on something that was out of our league, at which point all of the PCs would flock to the wizard for a hot evac (teleport). There was one guy who usually wanted to stay and fight, but...

I never thought one could make Cthulhu lame...

Wow. The quote from the Seattle magazine compares the culture shock faced by a normal outsider coming to Innsmouth (which is full of inbred fish-monsters worshipping Dagon) to the culture shock faced by a gay person returning to a small backwoods town (which is full of ultra-conservative...

Which Adventure Path is the best?

I voted for Age of Worms. As much as I love pirates, what I've read about the Savage Tide so far hasn't impressed me all that much. The Shackled City, which we got about 1/4 of the way through before the TPK and subsequent hiatus, was seemingly-unrelated dungeon crawl after dungeon crawl. The...

    The Beatdown Radar

I have tossed out actual alignments in my games, and have the items/spells/abilities that deal with alignments (Smite, Protection from Evil, Robe of the Archmagi) work on those who have an alignment aura: paladins and blackguards, clerics, elder dragons and undead, and outsiders such as demons...

Where do you carry your longbow when in melee?

My last character had a longbow for ranged combat and a rapier/buckler combo for melee. Since you can fire a bow while wearing a buckler, he simply carried the bow in his hand unless he got into melee, at which point he would drop the bow and draw his sword. Fighters who have larger shields...

What is the biggest appeal in playing D&D?

In D&D, as opposed to most other games/systems, there is so much "stuff" to play with. Five books with nothing but monsters, and that's only counting WotC-published material! All of the Complete books, the "Races of..." books, a book for arctic adventures, a book for oceanic adventures, etc...

    City Survivor! - Round 2

I voted Barovia. Never liked Ravenloft. Keep your psuedo-Victorian horror out of my psuedo-Medieval fantasy, please.

How bad does the bard suck?

I tend to think of bards as worthless, but that's because the only person I've ever seen play a bard in 3E is someone who is very non proactive in games. If the party wasn't so in need of a cleric, I would roll a bard for my next character just to see how they work.

    Core Religions in Actual Play

I played a cleric of Pelor which was a hand-me-down from someone else who was sick of playing clerics. After he died, I rolled my own cleric and made her a fighter/cleric/templar of Heironeous. I really wanted to play a paladin, but the party needed a cleric more, so I figured that was a nice...
