    Monotheism in a Polytheistic setting?

Why would any LG or CE people lies about things. Besides, in a normal, great wheel based planar setting demons and devils are just game terms given to CE and LE outsiders. If the gameworld uses different divine (and maybe alignment) assumptions from a normal great wheel planar structure...

    Monotheism in a Polytheistic setting?

I think this could work very well. The whole idea of Cthulhu and Lovecraftian horror is based on cosmic horrors that no one, not even the "gods", can handle. A monotheistic overdeity that doesn't give a damn about the universe he created and could destroy it and recreate a new one on a whim...

    Monotheism in a Polytheistic setting?

Not necessarily. If you're in 3.5, even demon princes or archdevils can grant divine spells to their worshippers. Worshippers of a monotheistic god can simply believe that all other gods are nothing more than powerful demons or devils.

Monster Manual 2: How long before the pirated copy appears?

You mean pirates aren't fanatic freedom fighters going out of their way and doing whatever it takes just to stick it to the man? awww.....

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Sneak Peeks (Old thread)

Personally, I found it really odd that they decided to have a bloodline ability that gives a +1 DC to a metamagicked spell.

Monster Manual 2: How long before the pirated copy appears?

Or, the pirates can just break the spine of their books and feed the book to scanner with a page feeder.

Planescape was Handholding. Forked from Plane Next Door/

Really, there is very little stuff from the old cosmology that you can't somehow insert into this new one. The only major difference is that the outer planes aren't fixed on a giant alignment pizza anymore so you can't walk from the Abyss to Carceri to Hades etc. all the way to Hell. Let's face...

MtG, D&D and Me TITLE NAME EDIT-The thread where Joe apparently offends everyone

Just go onto any manga/anime forum and you'll hear people complaining about how new shounen crap like Bleach and Naruto is replacing their good old Akira or Cowboy Bebop. The "stuff was better back when I was young" complain is everywhere. BTW...Magic players, they complain like hell...

    What's so special about Dragonlance?

I think you may be on to something here. It seems that for FR and GH, the world was created first and plots were then created and scatter throughout that world. For DL, it seemed that the campaign storyline was the main thing and made first and then the world was created to accomodate the...

    What's so special about Dragonlance?

Since it seems like we're taking a grand tour through D&D settings, I'll start the thread dedicated to Krynn.

+X Items: Sacred Cow or Holy Burger?

And now we're be back to 1st ed (or was it basic?). D&D comes full circle.

    Is PHB 2 really "Core?"

Everything in 4e is "core" in the sense that any book that comes out would be designed to take into account all the books that comes out before it and you can expect further support for a book in later releases. Just because a book is "core" doesn't mean you don't need other books to play.

+X Items: Sacred Cow or Holy Burger?

Wasn't the big, must-get magic item in 3.5 the +stats items? The +X weapons/armor were usually just +1 with a bunch of item properties tacked on behind it. If you needed to get a +X larger than +1, you get your wizard/cleric to cast greater magic weapon.

    Inconsistant/Arbitrary rules...

The "If you don't meet your PrC prereq, you lose your PrC abilities" rule is updated in Complete Warrior (I think, or it's in one of the other Completes or the PHB2), and not in the SRD.

D&D 4E Tripping, Disarm, and other maneuvers in 4e

It's not hard to build a trip monkey in 4e. Just play a polearm fighter that has the footwork lure at-will and the polearm momentum feat, and you have a fighter that effectively has a tripping at-will.

A Question for the 25 and under crowd - What have you read?

I'm 27 so I'm just over the max voting age, but from the list I've read Rowlings, Jordan, Howard (Conan) and some Tolkien (Hobbit and first half of Fellowship). I think your list should include more recent fantasy authors. Off the top of my head, stuff from Eddings, Feist, Weis, Lackey and Jim...

    The Sandbox And The Grind

Correct me if I'm wrong, but are you essentially asking for how to make a fight hard without making it grindy? Bringing up the sandbox seemed to have confused the issue. Well, how do you define a hard fight? Or how do you show to the PCs that your monsters are "hard"? You usually have two...

    The Sandbox And The Grind

There is no auto adjustment system. There is a scale that allows the DM to predict how well his PCs are going to do against particular groups of monsters. It's completely up to the DM what he puts in front of his PCs and how he modifies what he puts in, just like every single previous edition...
