Yes it was. Even with ocr, you can't reduce the size of a pdf too much without losing picture quality. Before wotc started selling pdfs, scanned copies were heavy but some had better bookmarks, links and pictures than the official ones. That's another reason why I think they're made by fans.

I don't know. They buy the books don't they? Also, rpgs aren't mainstream movies, long awaited albums or heavily protected softwares. I don't think scanning a book after its release date will make anyone shine outside of gaming circles.

I think they wanted to get rid of "alloy dragons". Maybe they'll appear in future books, there's always room for more dragons. I don't think it's a bad move. The brass and copper often got mixed up and Iron Dragon sounds good. "Adamantine dragon" is terrible, though. It's probably Mystery Sphinx...

I don't think anything got nerfed. It's more about bringing other classes up to CoD level. On the whole there's a slight power bump in the Beta, but nothing like 4e.

I'd say it sounds closer to GR's true20 (3 basic classes + paths). Maybe it's just wishful thinking. I'd love a more refined, fleshed out version of true20.

Same here. I love JJ's colors and the picture is really well done (especially when compared to the amateurish shadar-kai art) but I prefer more classical looks: sculpted terra cotta and greek or medieval iron armor. The iron golem is just too mecha and insect-like. Also too similar to the MM1...
