Actually, like i mentioned above I disagree. Truce At Bakura is not the first book that should be read Chronologically. The two Trilogies centered on Han Solo and the one Trilogy about Lando should go "first". Followed by Shadows of the Empire which takes place between Empire and Return.

If you pick up one of the latest novels at any book store (The Legacy of the Force books... Exile i think is the most recent) you'll see the complete and comprehensive timeline of all the canon novels in the EU. From there you can chose to read them chronologically or do some on line research...
