    if there are not any particular restrictions on the requirements for the feats to gain access to circle magic, then i would say any spell type allowed. however, if the feat itself has a cmagic type specified, then i would limit the circle based on the magics the feat calls out.

    in many stories, there are elements which naturally counter magical energies, such as cold iron. sometimes it is fey specific, sometimes it includes any arcane. i typically adopt such a general limitation on different forms of magical effects. sometimes a different one per type of effect.

    yeah, we were playing the original that was being upconverted on the fly by the dm to 3.x. however, some effects were left as is, so we were never quite certain what we were dealing with. rough dungeon, just rough.
