Crafting a new campaign where nature tries to kick civilization's butt

hmmm, a friend of mine consulted with me in building a customized druid prestige class for a campaign we were in, and it is exactly about this sort of concept. he called it the Forest Lord, and one of the abilities was that of reverting an area of civilized structures back to the natural...

    Grapple antics!

grapple as aoo: you should be able to initiate a grapple, iirc. going from memory though, so.... bullrushing a grapple: all or nothing. benign transposition: i think this would work, assuming willing or failed save. i have this sudden image of someone who disapproves of a couple liaison using...

D&D 3.x [3.5] Barbarian Character Helps and Suggestions

yes, that is the dragondex i was speaking of. quite useful for searching for stuff. i have managed to find the rules to legally allow a raging monk drunken master without resorting to alignment change shenanigans. it should be rather fun to play.

    Wielding Ze Big Gunz

the wield oversized weapon feat is considered somewhat better than monkey grip, iirc. also, acquire powerful build if one can manage it. otherwise consider titan blood for the weird rule it allows.

D&D 3.x [3.5] Barbarian Character Helps and Suggestions

there are quite a few feats (and flaws) dealing with enhancing or limiting rage. as well as some rage specific spells which could be made into items. may i suggest using the dragondex and doing a search for rage on the feats/flaws page?

    Familiar Improvements

there are various spells for improvements, as well as various things in dragon. grafting might be an option too.

    Rope Trick and Handy Haversack

technically... nothing. however, if you wish to follow through the logical conclusion made from the bag of holding and the portable hole, reference the list of spells which use the ethereal and astral in the planar books. note that portable hole uses one, and bag of holding uses the other. the...

Song Dragon's Alternate Form: Frightful Presence, or Not?

i think by raw, yes, it gets what is stated. i can entirely see how this is possible, though i imagine that it would be most useful if one could choose to use it or not depending on the situation. i have seen where a completely unassuming looking person can suddenly generate an extreme aura of...

    Removing Bonuses from Ability Scores

sounds like you need to play rolemaster. they had a system like that, iirc. high stats yielded limited special options which could make three characters with the same stat all very different from each other in terms of actual ability.

An examination of the cost of magic.

please don't forget the 3 times per day per spell limit! (some staffs only allow 2 or 1 per day, btw) or the attunement restriction! while it is true that runestaffs have no charges, they are limited per day items, which might be beneficial to specifically point out. i usually give out one...

    Malhavoc Press

you could just email him. he has always been gracious and taken the time to respond to my politely worded emails, eventually. (usually takes about a month or two turnaround time in my case, he's a busy man.)

Things that just bother me when it comes to D&D.

depends on the campaign setting specifics. greyhawk has the pact primeval as the major historical universe shaping event defining how things work; forgotten realms, dark sun, eberron, planescape, spelljammer, and so on each have their own subset or variant or departure from the greyhawk...

    fighting deities question

even if it hits, they are not likely to damage the being in question what with dr, er, and other protections. i would describe such a non-damaging hit as a parry or a block on the part of the being in question, preferably with a snappy one-liner with extra cheese or cool depending on the being...

    D&D 3.x Chases By the 3.5 Book!

ah, that makes sense. at least, your reasoning does. not sure why people don't spot the implication in the rules, but oh well. ^^ thanks. =D

    D&D 3.x Chases By the 3.5 Book!

well, it is also official in eberron setting, and modern, and star wars (if i am told correctly), which makes it not optional, but perhaps only for those settings. so why bring up chases in the first place if it is already in the book as is? sorta sounded like you were trying to figure it out...
