Is D&D Really Mythic Roleplaying? Is this what Epic Tier (20th-30th lvl) represents?

Repeating an Opinion doesn't turn it into a fact. Your opinion is that 4e will be a Tactical Map Game. You've said that - three times? - on this thread. It's an opinion, and as such it only needed to be shared once.

Is D&D Really Mythic Roleplaying? Is this what Epic Tier (20th-30th lvl) represents?

You keep saying this, but it doesn't make it any more true.

More from Mearls' blog re: NPC Creation

In my case, this is demonstrably false. I am not a unique case. Apparently, WotC deems me and people like me to be the majority. Where do we go from here?

More from Mearls' blog re: NPC Creation

Kraydak Are you claiming that statting up NPCs doesn't take a long time - which in my case if demonstrably false. Or that statting up NPCs doesn't take you a long time? In which case, I'll point out that I (and WotC) think you are in a distinct minority who don't feel this is a problem that...

If the devils are how monsters will be....I am so happy

Who or What defines a Devil as an Ally? Maybe it requires the Devil to be willing. These, being devils, I'm guessing more like (forced) oaths of servitude or pacts signed in blood (and under the threat of extreme violence). And once agreed, the bond lasts until the Pit Fiend releases it.

If the devils are how monsters will be....I am so happy

No. The stat block lists all of the things the Pit Fiend is going to do in the context of a fight. The rest of it is undefined as opposed to non-existent. See, Alatherion the Pit Fiend (in my 4e campaign) has the ability to know exactly where all his allies are and command them...

    Campaign Length

The question the Poll asks and the question the thread asks are not the same thing. Poll says "What is the longest campaign you've played in on a regular basis?", which was seven years (but not D&D) Thread asks "Average length of your games?"

    The Death of Simulation

Current thinking suggests that "Per-Encounter abilities requires 5 minutes or so of rest to recharge" or that "Per-Encounter" simply means "Once every 5 minutes". It's a guess, but based on the Book of Nine Swords I think a reasonable one.

    About Death and Resurrection

The quote does talk about a 'Significant cost' This could be Money - or it could be something else entirely. It may be a cost that Heroic tier characters are incapable of paying. Paragon tier characters appear to be 'More than Human'.

WHy weren't FRCS dragons wiped out by the spellplague?

Because dragons never interacted with Magic via the Weave. The weave is what went. Dragons went "That thing? never needed it in the first place - poor two-leggers"

Metagame role of PoL compared to alignment

Look up 'Beyond the Pale' and it's meaning. The parallels with the PoL setting are obvious.

    Game vs Game System

Ok, try this. 1) You get better at doing things by overcoming obstacles. That premise is firmly, deeply entrenched in D&D - but is easy to alter. 2) Magic is more effective than Science, but is limited to a few. So, for example, all swords created with Science are equal - and almost all are...

    Game vs Game System

You neglect to say if you think this is a good thing. Posting on a fora without a bias? To me, the interesting thing is if the explicit setting, theme and premise are easily 'hacked' into a new setting, theme or premise. I don't think, by the way, that D&D ever was 'generic'. It always had (to...

Another sacred cow. Autohit on 20. Keep or Slay?

Ditch 'em. A master swordsman has a 5% chance with every blow to screw up? Nuh-uh. As for 20=autohit, get rid of it. If you are ever in a situation where their AC is more than 20 higher than your attack roll, then it requires tactics. Basically, it shouldn't happen. Fumble on skill roll? No...

What Unique Schtick Do You Think Each Power Source Should Have?

A 'problem' D&D has had (it may or may not be a problem, depending on your preferences) is that if there is two ways to do something then the Magical way is - pound for pound - better. Arcane Lock vs a normal Lock Knock vs Open Locks Magical Armour vs Very Well Made Armour I hope that this...

What Unique Schtick Do You Think Each Power Source Should Have?

Poor warlocks.... Wait, do you mean 'only users of the Arcane power source' rather than just wizards? In which case, Poor clerics of Kossuth. Hmmm, do you subscribe to 'Magic = Better' system? It seems to be common in D&D (especially Forgotten Realms and Greyhawk)

    D&D 4E 4E PHP cover art changed

I'd have thought that it wasn't 'inappropriate' because it would offend, but inappropriate because it won't appeal. Book covers change often due to location - here's an easy to find example... http://gallery.the-leaky-cauldron.org/category/363 Notice how most of the front covers are different...
