    Possible Rules Patent?

A US patent, it's not registered in the EU AFAIK.

    Possible Rules Patent?

One of the things I have researched is Patents relating to games. The US and European Union have different laws in this regard. US patents can be applied to games, in the EU they can't. http://www.epo.org/patents/law/legal-texts/html/epc/2000/e/ar52.html Article 52, 2C of the EU Patent...

    D&D 4E Green Ronin's Pramas blogs on 4e or not 4e

WHFRP, and WH40kRPG are both Black Industries. WHFRP was briefly published by Hogshead publishing (the 3rd ed in '95) but not any more. *edit* Beaten to the post!

Can the Fighter be Real and Equal to spellcasters?

I think Forcecage wrecks the balance as well. The spell allows for no mundane way to escape. It's essentially an Instakill. Because lasting 2 hours per level as it does by the time you cast it, it lasts over a day. No save, no SR, no way to damage it.

Rich Baker says a little on paragon adventure(s)

Sword and Sorcery is covered by my reading. By the Heroic tier. Like E6 was, so H10 will be. Just run Heroic tier adventures which involve you saving the world.

Should all things be created equal ?

Chris Engle's Matrix Games do this in the most elegant way I've ever seen. Sure isn't D&D tho' Here's my statement - All Players should have equal opportunity to affect the game. In the end, that generally means that the classes need to be roughly equal - or that the 'weak' classes need to be...

Can the Fighter be Real and Equal to spellcasters?

Here is my main issue with Magic in current D&D. A number of spells, especially low level spells, are unbounded and absolute. Knock is the best example of this, Spider Climb another. Both allow for a total removal of a skill (Open Locks and Climb Walls). Spells like this (Silence, Invisibility...

worlds and monsters is in my hands

Plausible? Which version of D&D where you playing? The one where you got better at singing by murdering orcs or the one where bringing in 100,000+ pieces of gold did nothing to affect inflation. I understand that 'simulation of an environment' is a valid aim for game play - but I don't think...

The Myth of the Bo9S's Popularity

This has mostly been the true since 1st ed AD&D. My emphasis. In my opinion, there is no real debate. 2ed doesn't mention it at all, mind. 1st and 3.x both explicitly call out that HP are abstract and represent Luck, Skill and Magic.

worlds and monsters is in my hands

Previous reviews have both shown that dragons are quite mobile and effective in combat without their breath attack and that blanket immunities are gone. So casting fire protection in 4e is unlikely to stop a red dragon for very long.

The Myth of the Bo9S's Popularity

Is 'more-than-human' ok if it's not available until after 10th level? Even for fighters? See, this is how I see it; Heroic Tier Fighter Above Average -> Human limit (Batman) Paragon Tier Fighter Human Limit -> 'Low-power' superhero Epic Tier Fighter Mythic Warrior -> Near Godlike. Heroic...

The Myth of the Bo9S's Popularity

I can't make a 10' long jump - therefore me making a 10' jump ever is a magical ability? No-one can make 10' high jump - therefore anyone making a 10' jump straight up is a magical ability? It's not an issue of scale, but of level. Should a 10th level Fighter be able to do stuff that is...

D&D 4E A mystery Race in 4E FRCG (Rich Baker scoop)

I think that a race introduced in the FRCS will be FR specific. Writing up Gnomes up solely in the FRCS would cause a howl of outrage from many, many quarters - for example. So, what race is uniquely a FR playable race as opposed to other settings?

D&D 5E (2014) Critical Hits Appears to be Next in D&D Archive

That's a pretty big 'if' there, sport. However, I'm in favour of 'Crit = Special effect' (such as trip/disarm/whatever based on weapon) rather than 'Crit = more damage'

D&D 5E (2014) Critical Hits Appears to be Next in D&D Archive

More specifically, how often does such a situation like your farmer example occur in 4e? I remember playing BECMI. By the time that 'only hit on a natural 20' became an issue the situations where so 'edge' case that it was irrelevant. BECMI has no Critical Hits either.

    Critical Hits: What's Best?

Other system. Roll a 20, throw a dart at the player. If the player screams in pain, deal double damage. If the player goes to hospital, character is dead. Otherwise Max damage. Some weapons allow you to throw more than one dart. On a crit against a Monster, a player of the DM's choice must...

D&D 4E Crafting Magic Items in 4E - How Would YOU Do It?

I would like the forging of items to be ... separated from Spellcasting. Forging a magic sword should be the province of a Master Smith with the correct (and rare) elements. Not a wizard.

Design & Development: Traps is up!

However, I'd wager that every group use the "I search the area for traps as I go" mechanic once they have hit the first trap. At least for a bit.

Design & Development: Traps is up!

The poison needle trap is not the simplest of traps. It's a total nightmare. A pit trap isn't a 'trap' in the same way that 4e uses the term. It's really an environmental hazard. Like a landslide or a fire. Snares like a pit or a net aren't interesting in and of themselves. Only in context. A...

What Core Races have you played?

I've played every race except a Gnome - but with a caveat. I've not played a 1/2 orc since 1st ed. (Tellentra - 1/2 orc Cleric/Assassin in Temple of Elemental Evil. About 1987?) The last 1/2 elf I played I resented doing so. 3.5 1/2 elves are real weak.
