    Any good adventures in Ravenloft?

That reminds me: Adam's Wrath and The Created both have explore the theme of PCs trapped in other bodies. I find it fascinating. I ran both and I found The Created to be a little stronger, though probably because the PCs in Adam's Wrath split up and got themselves a TPK.

    Racial Scores Fix

For many classes, the extra at-will and the extra feat are killer. It's not even that good for the Warden that I'm playing, but I would still miss them. Any class that depends primarily on one Ability Score will be tempting for human PCs. I imagine that humans will be very popular monks.

    Any good adventures in Ravenloft?

I loved Night of the Walking Dead and Feast of Goblyns. Feast is a great railroad, but if your PCs are "good", they will happily follow the plot. We had a great time, all of our players really distrusted the main characters and our characters didn't really trust them either. However, we didn't...

Unicorn's Touch: Free Hit Points Every 5 Minutes?

This is, unfortunately, an obvious point. This is part of the mechanics of the system. The mechanics are not there to mimic everything in the fantasy world, they are there to enable an enjoyable game. Now if you cannot have fun without a perfectly modelled game, you're going to have to look...

    MARS: Savage Worlds?

I may be playing it later this summer. The guy who is thinking of running it is quite impressed. He claims that there is also a lot of fan good quality material available for the game through the official website (or forum) of the game. I cannot say much more than that, however.

    Roleplaying and Mental Health (Psychology)

You should beware using the terms of GNS/The Big Model/Yada yada yada. They are controversial within the game design community and they have little, if any, academic support.

    "I'm good at D&D"

One way of thinkin g about it is if we take Gary Fine seriously that RPG playing reates idioculture (small, local cultures) then one is good at D&D to the extent that one is good at participating in the particular idioculture created through play.

Races and Classes at a Very Casual Glance

Great stuff. The class is not necessarily about stealth. They do not have to surprise anyone to get the drop on them; their powers allow them to punish their chosen foe. Also can have some formerly tradiational bard-like intimidate and leadership type powers. They do not need to attack every...

    Monk Preview

Now that I'm playing a warden, I have to say that they are pure gold. They really get the feel of the defender of the woods and their powers are amazing. I was never a Fighter-type, and I don't think that I could play any other defender, now.

4e Monsters that scare the crap out of characters

A good example of this is Shadar-kai. They can always get at the squishies. The defenders have to work extra hard to keep them away.

With this statement, I cannot take anything the author writes seriously.

Telling players about the consequences of PC actions

You should ask the players what kind of consequences for their actions they want to see. They want to take part in a story of a sort, but what kind of story? This may be different for different people, but you should find out what kinds of things they expect to happen. Now this does not mean...

MM2 sneak peak / new warforged art

If you're not going to fight it, why spend the time, effort, and space on including it in a book of things to fight? I mean, seriously, it's like some DMs out there aren't bright enough include a "monster" for interacting with the PCs unless it is also going to be involved in a fight.

What's the benefit of Pinioning Vortex?

You are assuming, I guess, that the spell is cast outside of the creature's turn. However, if a caster readies their action for when the crature either attacks or begins to move, then this spell becomes much better. Even if cast outside of the creature's turn, it clears the creature away and...

What's the benefit of Pinioning Vortex?

What did I write? "The important thing is moving the monster out of the way and ensuring its location at a given time." The monster is moved up, out of the way for the next actions of the PCs, unable to take OAs, and will come down in the same spot, unless that spot is filled. Perhaps you do...

What's the benefit of Pinioning Vortex?

The important thing is moving the monster out of the way and ensuring its location at a given time. This pretty much ensures that other PCs will be able to pull off a planned combo against the creature when it comes down. It's also good for a wizard who waits to interrupt a special attack he or...

    Class Overview - Powers

Indeed, it's about level five that one should read to, since it is with these powers that the classes (and builds, and different weapon fighters, I think) really start to become their own.

What's the benefit of Pinioning Vortex?

I have to say that many of the complaints in this thread do not seem to coincide with 4E as I have played it. This power would be a very welcome addition to the fights that I have seen.
