D&D General Weekend Fun: What Fantasy Movie Does Your Ideal D&D Campaign Look Most Like?

Would agree with this choice and also with the reasoning. There's a few more films in the list which I find inspiring for fantasy adventures, but I don't think I would use D&D for those (e.g. I would probably use TOR for Lord of the Rings-style adventures or Barbarians of Lemuria for...

There Can Be Only One: Best Old School Inspired Fantasy TTRPG

I see multiple reasons why people might choose to: Cleaner presentation / more appealing layout Streamlined or tweaked design More active community / easier to find players But of course, if you have a group and enjoy playing one of the original games/game versions, that's perfectly fine, too.

There Can Be Only One: Best Old School Inspired Fantasy TTRPG

Being able to choose multiple games does makes it easier, but I'll still limit myself to two: Old-School Essentials - because presents the B/X rules very well, offers a compelling setting book with Dolmenwood, and also brought a number of great adventures in its wake. This is my go-to rules for...

GMs: What Could You Use Right Now To make Your Life Easier/Better?

Unfortunately it is. Using an English tool would effectively mandate also switching to the English rules, which is something I'm trying to avoid (the German translation is actually pretty good). Still, Purple Sorcerer is a great tool for all those who are fine with English.

GMs: What Could You Use Right Now To make Your Life Easier/Better?

I'm contemplating running a bit of DCC for a while now and it would be quite helpful to have a web-based tool for easy access to all spell and crit tables. With German text. The latter is a general thing: it would be great if there were language packs for premium content modules for Foundry...

Extensive Character Sheets Are GM Oppression

Conceptually I agree: too many rules definitely can get in the way. I'm not sure I would call it GM oppression, but it is definitely a philosophy that looks at constraining GM power through a multitude of rules. Personally, I'm not a big fan, less because I view constraints of GM power as...

D&D General What Do Tabaxi Look Like in Your Games? (A Poll)

Was about to say the same. So to have a picture:

2024 - What's your AC Set At Poll?

No AC here - it's simply not very common in Germany. Two weeks ago, I wished I had one, though. If I had AC, I would probably set it to 24 or 25°C in the living room (where I also work when not in the office), and 21 or 22°C in the bed room.

    2024 ENNIE Nominations

I own three, but still there's a lot of stuff on this list I haven't even heard about until now. Probably testament to how much the market has grown and diversified.

But what about hating the book for its cover illustration? 🙃

D&D General The D&D Memes Thread

(yes, it would be better to just drop the "most likely", but I still like the idea that someone labeled their office fridge as a mimic :) )

D&D General Why Do You Prefer a Medieval Milieu For D&D? +

Coming back to the OP's question: the aspects of swords (and sorcery) being cool and the reduced complexity of the faux medieval setting of D&D also play a role, but I think the most prominent reason for me is that I'm used to it in D&D. My first contact with D&D was AD&D2 and video games like...

Moria Campaign Module Coming for TOR2e and LotR 5e

I also only received an email about confirming my address, but nothing on shipping. But it seems, depending on where you live, that's also to be expected - GamesQuest lists the project as "on the water" (EU, UK & ROW). I assume the shipping in the US is done by another handler, and that's why...

What Do YOU Call This Food?

I'm not sure what to call it, but my immediate impression is that the two valid options when seeing it are "kill it with fire!" and "we should nuke the entire site from orbit".
