Looking forward to D&D Vista 😅

    D&D 5E (2024) Let's call it 5.24

My reasoning is the same, but 5.24 and 5.14 sound odd to me, so I think I'll go with 5e (2014) and 5e (2024) if I want to distinguish between the two. Or stick with 5.0 and 5.5 because it's short and convenient. But I guess, eventually I will just call it whatever people around me end up...

Pace and Progress in your game.

I have experienced this, though not with D&D, but with DSA/The Dark Eye - we played 3 hours and by the end of the session, we had successfully reached the marketplace... I have played games where random encounters played a larger role (mostly in OSR and OSR-adjacent space), and there was no...

    So I got a PS5...

If you haven't played it on PC or PS4, God of War (2018) is a great game that I enjoyed a lot. Good mix of interesting mechanics and a nice father-son story. Also, I heard good things about Ghost of Tsushima (haven't played it myself so far, but it's pretty high on my personal list).

D&D 5E (2024) Foundry VTT now taking pre-orders for D&D (2024) modules for PHB, DMG and MM

Earlier today, Foundry VTT formally announced the premium content modules for the 2024 core books and started listing them for pre-order. Release will be staged: PHB: September 17, 2024 DMG: November 12, 2024 MM: February 18, 2025 There seems to be no incentive for pre-order other than...

    Poll: Heavily Non-Canon Star Wars

I'm not unconditionally open to a non-canon Star Wars game, but this would be fine for me. I feel this could actually be quite interesting with the right group. The other main option would be to start after the original trilogy and than just extrapolate from there without major concern for both...

    Diablo IV

I don't think it's absolutely mandatory, because I still see room for more campaign-centered ARPGs (be it single player or coop). But they probably wouldn't have the production quality of a Diablo 4 since the development costs seem to require a longer period of revenue generation afterwards...

Press West End Games' D6 System 2E Is Coming From Gallant Knight Games!

If I understood it correctly on the GKG Discord, they don't have the authority to decide on this, so it's probably not going to happen. In other news: there's now a Kickstarter pre-registration page - D6 System: Second Edition. According to the latest newsletter, the campaign will probably...

    Diablo IV

Yeah, same here. There's just too many moving parts in this game for me and it doesn't look like they are moving away from this. Also, I'm still not sold on the shared world (although I do think that having an open world after the campaign makes sense). So based on the sentiment I see online...

D&D General It's Session Zero! How Much Backstory Do You Give Your Character?

Depends a bit on the specific group, but typically somewhere in the range of "a bit" and "very little", i.e. a few bullet points for ideas I find interesting. And everything else comes either in or after session zero. I typically also don't roll up a character before session zero - for me...

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

Same here. Technically I have too many games already, but I was reminded today about the fact that there is a special edition in the Chaosium shop and they give you the PDF for free when you order the print version. Plus, I just was in the mood to order some nice game stuff :)

    Looking for D&D-like alternatives to D&D 5e

Both are great games and under different circumstances I would absolutely recommend them. In this case, however, grid-based tactical combat seems like a hard requirement, and OSR games are not interesting to the GM. So unfortunately, I don’t think they are a good fit.

    Looking for D&D-like alternatives to D&D 5e

Ok, I see. This makes it a bit trickier since I don't have a lot of hands-on experience with the listed systems (and really only surface knowledge about DC20 and MCDM). The main pitch based on my experience would be that, at least to me, Savage Worlds in many ways feels like a cleaned up and...
