Making monsters into PCs with PCGen

Depends on how the characters are made... if you are using default monster, then all that will come up.. if you are making a monster and adding a class to it, then things will be different... here's the 'definitive' post for how ECL and such is viewed/used in PCGen...

    [Renamed] The Future of PCGen?

As BD noted, there are plans... they proceed slowly ahead while we address other more pressing issues of code within PCGen. We're slowly getting the pieces in place to be able to cleanly down-level a character, as well as randomly generating things... it's just a matter of time really, as in...

Fluid site up, E-Tools Screenshots available

Eric, It was ODBC and Jet Drivers required to get installed for Office 97 to get it to work with 5.5... I don't think anyone ever actually got 5.0 to work, but I don't remember for sure.

    The (quintessential) paladin prestige class

All points well raised, and I would offer 2 bits of my personal perspective on this... 1) A Paladin is a holy warrior for their deity... they are the #1 representative in the field for their deities wishes and expansion of influence (an aspect oft overlooked in favor of clerics doing so)...

    [Renamed] The Future of PCGen?

It's already in the Alpha Builds... The code monkey that's working on this is cleaning up the last couple of issues (3 of them) and making it a bit 'prettier' code wise... so it will definately be in the next release (That's Thursday this week).

    [Renamed] The Future of PCGen?

Re: PCGen & Familiars? As the previous poster mentioned, atm, it is handled like equipment - which is NOT the best solution to the problem, but it did allow for adding the abilities familiars granted to the master. Familiars can also be created as monters (selecting a familiar type (cat, bat...

    Help with Visual Basic

VB Help Instead of using 34 different forms, why not make one form, scrollable, with all 34 questions on it, the radio selections to the right of the questions. This solves the problem of making the global variables across all the forms. Just a thought. :)

    More wierdness from Avalanche

Re: some real art Most Impressive! I've not seen such an excellent rendition of a Dwarf in any Published product in a long time. Any publisher that is doing a book on dwarves definately should use you! Do you have any other art on the net? Oh, yea, the thread. :p Well, Since my rommie is...

    Announcement: The Explorer's Guides

Interesting Interesting. Where you aware of the fact that Children of the Grave is releasing 'Explorers Almanac: The Forbidden Jungle' sometime in May/June? It's been on their website for the last 2 months. It's also the 1st in a line of 'Explorers Almanacs'. It's also meant to be a...

Source code to my VB Character Creator now available...

Thanks! Just grabbed the source code, I'll poke at it sometime soon (hopefully). I'm starting to learn java myself, but I understand VB much better, so this should be fun. :)

    Reviews, Opinions, & Politeness

I have to apologize here... It seems that just by referencing the other thread, I made a faux paus... that was not my intention to 'stire the kettle' any further, in any way shape or form... so my apologies for doing that. :( My intention with stating what my opinions on what a 'Professional...

    Reviews, Opinions, & Politeness

Hadn't intended to insult anyone. If anyone feels insulted, please accept my apologies for it. As I've said several times now, these are _MY_ beliefs about reviews/reviewers, and I'm not 'trolling' here... I _would_ like to actually have an open, civil debate, that includes publishers...

    Reviews, Opinions, & Politeness

Eh? how exactly did you pull that from what I posted? I am serious about that, how exactly did you get that from what I said? That is _NOT_ what I meant or meant to imply in any way. My point was simply stating, what I thought was obvious, a Professional Reviewer does it for a living and gets...

    Reviews, Opinions, & Politeness

Okay, maybe I wasn't clear enough, what I meant by paid was, paid to do it for a living, i.e. a salary, full time job, etc, however you wish to call it.... Kind of like Roger Ebert does, he gets paid to review movies, and that's all he does... As for what I'm trying to say, I *thought* I was...

    Reviews, Opinions, & Politeness

I just read through the thread; Critique of Psion's review of MOZ 1 And have to say I'm amused, disappointed, and apathetic about it at various points. Couple of points come to mind; 1) A Professional Reviewer gets paid to review things. MOST D20 reviewers do it in their free time and do not...

    Pcgen Aging?

Not within the program itself. A few users have created temaplates that handle this, but it should be handled relatively soon to avoid using this workaround.

Open Call to D20 Publishers from PCGen

This was posted Previously on the old message boards, but seems to have been lost, so We'll repost it in the next message in it's entirety. The PCGen Website (http://pcgen.sourceforge.net/) has been updated to include a section called 'Source Conversion'. The purpose of this section is to show...

    Is Software next?

Well, while there isn't a 'tutorial' per se, there is a list of valid tags used in the list files for creation of anything. All it requires is looking at another set of list files and copying much of what you would want until you learned how to make them from scratch. It's not really that hard...

    Is Software next?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Is Software next? Yes, yes they can force the issue by telling us to remove all non-SRD stuff, and I expect eventually they probably will, TSR/WotC have a bad habit of pissing off the public, but like sheep, we keep going back. Regardless, they can force us to...
