But remember how at the end of the episode, as they walk through the door, Jack gives the stargate a really strange/evil look? Was it just over acting perhaps? I thought there was something else going on there.

Sounds like our campaigns are similar. I too have modified the paladin so that each god with lawful clerics has their own. I never liked detect alignment spells.

The blackguard may well have some spell casting ability. Some very specific events have occured in the campaign setting that have made things very different. :) And the fact that paladins have no spell casting lends more credence to letting blackguards keep theirs. They are no longer mirrors...
