D&D General How Was Your Last Session?

I'm DMing two separate campaigns, ToA and DiA. Today in ToA, the party - who arrived in Omu after a spectacular 16 days - confronted the King of Feathers (I made him stronger, and Gargantuan in size). They had already run from him twice. Anyway, they decided to ambush him. They were able to...

    D&D 5E (2014) What are your D&D buying habits?

I buy quality content (IMO) only. That means that first I borrow a book, then I decide if I'll buy. So far, I bought three quarters of 5e official content.

D&D General What editions of Dungeons & Dragons do you like?

BECMI: I started with this. Still good for simplicity. AD&D2e: the settings. 3.5: logical and coherent 5e: original spirit plus 3.5 precision. The best IMO

    Dragonlance Dragonlance or Mystara?

After an old Cataclysm, the Gods have abandoned the world, and also magical creatures such as Dragons are gone. The world is gritty and faithless. Suddenly, one day, endless armies of Evil Dragons and dragon-men invade the world. The heroes must find a way to survive. But then. Will they be able...

    Dragonlance Dragonlance or Mystara?

You can use 5e rules and play Dragonlance and Mystara modules converting on the fly

D&D General "A Special Warning Regarding the Deadliness of this Module" (or Adventure Design Philosophy)

In my experience, it all depends on the shared style of DM and players. I always ask my players the level of difficulty they want for the campaign: easy, normal, difficult, or deadly. (They almost always choose normal) It's true that there are written modules that are very hard, almost...

    Dragonlance Dragonlance or Mystara?

Both great. First difference is in mood: Dragonlance is heroic fantasy, in which the heroes fight against overwhelmingly powerful evil villains; Mystara is high fantasy, where goodness usually wins; you can also play silly adventures or political adventures. Personally, I find difficult to play...

    D&D General General or Lord?

They're two different functions, one militar, the other political. (No "Lord General") One can be a teacher and a father; his students call him teacher, his son call him dad

D&D 5E (2014) Which is a good adventure for high level (10th level or so)?

Against the Giants / Tomb of Horrors (in TotYP) High Level dungeons in DotMM from BECMI, converted on the fly: Red Arrow, Black Shield / War Rafts of Kron / Test of the Warlords from AD&D 1e and 2e: City of Skulls / Return to the Tomb of Horrors / Duty & Deity from 3e and 3.5: Lord of the Iron...

D&D 5E (2014) Rime of the Frostmaiden magic items

In my experience, the only two published campaigns with magic item scarcity are exactly RotF and DotMM. All others are just fine.

D&D 5E (2014) Rime of the Frostmaiden magic items

However, the party assassin had much fun with the laser rifles. Overall, I think that the scarcity of magic weapons in the campaign is a feature, not a flaw. It's an horror campaign. It can be easily played as a gritty, OSR module. The same complains could be made about encounter balance. The...

D&D General Whom has had a greater impact on D&D? Gygax or Greenwood?

EGG is first. Then the Hickmans. The Hickman Revolution meant that your characters felt as in a novel or in a movie. I think that Mike Mearls deserves the third place. He single-handedly saved the game with 5e. Greenwood invented a great campaign setting.

OD&D Favorite PC you have ever played?

My signature character, back in my high school years, was an AD&D2e fighter who was obsessed with immortality. In the end, he reached it. He was an emo with superpowers!...

D&D 5E (2014) Where in FR do you want the next big adventure book to go?

    1) Shadowdale / Cormanthor 2) The Moonsea 3) Anauroch

D&D 5E (2014) At what level does play become "high level"?

I actually consider lvls 7-13 to be the "sweet spot" with the most fun. They are strong heroes now. At lvl 13, they're already super-heroes with incredible powers. But from Lvl 13, the game breaks and becomes virtually unplayable. I have experoenced this in every edition of the game (AD&D2e...

Dragonlance Dragonlance's Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman Are Suing WotC for Breach of Contract

Wokeness killed Dragonlance, forever. I'm so, so angry.

    D&D 3.x Are You Still Playing D&D 3.0?

Sometimes I or one of my friends want to play an old module. And to have the full experience, you have to play with the original rules (exception: BECMI and AD&D1e modules work best with 5e, IMO). For example, you want to experience Age of Worms or Savage Tide? Go with 3.5. Want to feel the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Tasha's Hideous Laughter vs Otto's Irresistible Dance

I take Otto's to take out creatures with Legendary Resistance. It's the Dragon Killer spell.

    AD&D 1E What makes a D&D game have a 1E feel?

I actually began playing with BECMI and then AD&D2e, so I never directly experienced 1e "feel". So I have to guess from hints, such as playing the Gygax modules. 1e: characters feel almost as tokens in a Wargame or boardgame (when your character in Hero Quest dies, you are disappointed but you...
