    Age of Worms - Deadly

Oh, yeeeeah.... My party did that. "So, who's got the light?" Fighter: "I've got a sunrod, I'll crack it." Me: "Anyone else have any light source? Torches, maybe?" Them: "Naw, the fighter has a sunrod. That's good." Me: "Ooooookay...." Also, no alchemist's fire... the beetles were tough.

    Disintegrate, Vampires, Gaseous Form

Yeah, but critting with a 2d6-per-level spell is always fun. Mmmm 44d6 at 11th level...

    NYT on WoW's success

I would buy a slightly modified version of the argument: That WoW is so popular that it hurts other genres of computer gaming. That being, the game publishing houses look at MMORPGS (since Ultima Online, really, not just WoW) and see the swimming pools full of cash that they can generate...

    Complete Warrior Errata Question

Volley Attack is a term from 3.0, really, though it applies to 3.5 in some situations. Basically, it means "you got more than one attack in a situation where you'd normally only get one", AKA "more than one attack for a standard action". See also Multishot and Scorching Ray. Precision-based...

    Mobile Spellcasting

Another fun one is to combine it with blink -- pop out of a wall, cast, duck back through (*). *: highly suggested you go through a _thin_ wall. Some miss chances may apply. Kids, don't try this at home.

    Ascetic Rogue Feat

Yup. It's a shame, too, as advancing unarmed damage is about the most "meh"-worthy of the monk abilities they could have picked. On the other hand, advancing SA would have every monk in the world taking a level of rogue and this feat. I mean, wow.... "Flurry! Hit! Stun! Hit, sneak attacking...

    Sneak Attack vs. Uncanny Dodge

This was straight flat-footed. The problem is with the wording of "would". Oy. Would the barbarian be denied his dex bonus? Yes, he would, but he has Uncanny Dodge. For the record, I agree with the majority, that the "would" refers to whether or not the target has a dex bonus to begin...

    Sneak Attack vs. Uncanny Dodge

This came up in game last night. Can a rogue Sneak Attack a flatfooted enemy who has Uncanny dodge? Start of the combat, barbarian had not acted yet. Relevant snippets from the SRD: ... The rogue’s attack deals extra damage any time her target would be denied a Dexterity bonus to AC (whether...

Complicated components still take only 1 standard action?

Sorry, I thought you were being snippy. :) It's honestly never come up. It's a conflict between the worlds of flavor/reality and game balance. We'd probably just gloss over the onyx in the mouth thing... "Rise, my minions!" doesn't really work when you need to run around. Now, if the guy had a...

Complicated components still take only 1 standard action?

Sure. You're penalizing the casters with taking a feat _all_ the time, and penalizing them more for some spells. Happy?

Complicated components still take only 1 standard action?

My response to components taking extra time would be "Okay. 1st level feat: eschew material components. Next!". Just so you realize that you're penalizing all casters 1 feat, not making the flavor better.

    BattleStar Galactica S2/E7 08.26.05

I think Sharon is exactly where she wants to be, and that is near Helo. I don't think we should expect all of the Cylons to have the same agenda, and Sharon-C is definitely one with her own. She might even be trying to get the humans and Cylons back together; "if only they understood" and so on...

    Record Your Ptolus Pre-Orders Here!

Not going to buy it, but I think the installment plan makes a lot of sense, both from the point of view of the customer and from Monte's POV. For Monte, I see three options: 1) Offer the book for sale in a year. This makes money off the people who would buy it then. 2) Offer the book for sale...

Is Wall of Thorns as utterly broken as it seems to be?

Mmmm... you know, I think I'll point this out to my wife. As for overpowered Druid spells, how about Quill Blast? Oy!

Silence spell vs. a closed door

Well, I would assume that if the guy building the door had a yeth hound, he'd also be hiring yeth-men... <ba dum bum!>

    Who is the spookiest actor?

Christopher Walken. So I'm reading this, and say (out loud) "Duh. Christopher Walken." My wife looks at me and says "A thread about the scariest man alive?" And if anyone's played Privateer 2, he's actually a good guy... but I kept expecting him to stab me in the back. I mean, it's...

    Drizzt Novels...

Eh. :) The first few novels were okay D&D fiction. Actually, among the better D&D fiction, but that's not really saying much unfortunately. The later ones started driving me nuts. Also, I'm one of the few people here that _really_ had a problem with Servant of the Shard. The plot was great, but...

WorldWorks 3D sets - anybody ever use any of them?

I'll second (er, tenth?) that. I also find that the WW models are good for accessories for a standard battlemat -- tables, chairs, bookcases, stairs, and the like. Though I'm working on a table-spanning arena using their gladitorial models. That should be interesting. The only real problem I...
