Breaking News: Kuo-Toa Not Froggy Anymore

I think that being a 'Siamese fighting fish-people' samurai would be awesome. It's like you come with a built-in kimono.

Confirmed: Magic items and summoned monster stats in PHB

Presumably, the Anarchic Dire Aardvark will have Craft (Letterbomb) instead.

Confirmed: Magic items and summoned monster stats in PHB

If the PHB entry for a summoned Celestial Dire Aardvark doesn't tell me how many ranks it has in Craft (Basket Weaving), it will be a SLAP IN THE FACE to everyone in this community.

    Cascade effect of rule changes

I always wanted there to be a section of 'secret feats', maybe sandwiched somewhere in between the 3rd- and 4th-level Bard spells, and not mentioned in the table of contents, containing 'the REAL dodge'. You know. For players who had 'mastered' the 'system' of 'reading'.

WotC_Shoe: A tiny, tiny hint on new weapons post-PHB

"Oh drat, we'll come in again.... NOOOOOOBODY expects a revised edition!"

    D&D 4E Testing "Try 4e" house rules

Not to mention that the relatively 'flattened' progressions of attack bonus and AC mean that 'only hit on a 20' should be a rare event, at any level of gameplay.

    Squared FireBalls?

This gets even more hilarious in a game like Mage Knight, where you *have* to pick up a figure (in order to turn the combat dial, which keeps track of the unit's stats and abilities) every time it takes damage.

    No more cone shaped powers?

I take back what I said about removing cones entirely. I like this idea. The main reason is that 'wide lines' are only easy to do along the directions of the grid, or at 45 degree angles. If someone wants to use a wide line to hit a target that is, say, 6 squares down from him and 3 squares...

    1-2-1 Diagonal Movement?

No, it breaks the Pythagorean theorem. Thankfully, D&D is a game about roleplaying and tactical combat, not Euclidean geometry.

    D&D 4E I like 4E math.

Looks like someone's forgotten the first two rules of 4E Math Club...

    What's so Hard About Grappling?

I think there's just no need for AoOs on an unarmed attack, ever. There's already a penalty for fighting an armed person when you are unarmed. It's called, you brought your bare fists to a sword fight; enjoy eating my 2d6 damage, dumbass!

    Immediate need for house rules?

    This is madness. And Sparta.

    No more cone shaped powers?

Remove cones, add 'wide lines' (long rectangular area of effect, 2-3 squares wide) and call it a day.

You can't fool me; you're really Bruce Schneier!

    D&D 4E Non-Euclidean Geometry in 4E?

Eh, to a first order approximation, a sphere is a cube anyway.

    Ice Archon

For the love of god, please do not reference World of Warcraft for precedent. It's like putting out a campfire by dumping the World's Biggest Can of Worms on it. ;)

What classes will be in the martial power book?

I honestly don't have a problem with an alchemy-based character conveniently reaching into his ass^h^h^h utility belt and grabbing just enough items to fill out his per-encounter powers, but I think that the 'realism' crowd would have an aneurysm over it, so it's going to be a non-starter from...

D&D 4E New Podcast: New DDM rules and their 4E origins

It sounded to me like 4E will count diagonals as being one space, and that the Player's Handbook doesn't have any 'cone' templates.

    D&D Minis: Preview 2

Ah. Well, at this point, I think I am rooting for 'vicejaw crocodile' to make it into the MM, rather than 'dire crocodile'.

    Monster Manual: How Much Cut?

Not quite sure why, but making cyclopses(?) Fey somehow clicks for me, even though the cyclops is from Greek myth and the Feywild is more of a Northern European folktale sort of thing.
