    Is a Horse Still a 10 by 10 creature?/Should there be facing?

Shadow of the Colossus was a lot of fun, but I think that facing rules are the wrong way to create the same feel. For one, SotC being an action game gave it the opportunity to use time pressure as a way to make maneuvering a challenge. If you give slow, clumsy facing/rules to a giant monster...

Especially since Mike Mearls explicitly that the math behind the monsters only takes the weapon, armor, and cloak into account - Monster Manual monsters have been tested for their difficulty against a character who is otherwise naked.

WotC: Souldn't Magic Items Be Classified By Function?

... and then, when they're finally used to using the telescope of levitation, you put in a scenario where the PCs would gain some benefit from using the telescope just as a telescope, but then every time they try to look through it, they start levitating, making it necessary to go through all...

How I Stopped Worrying and Learned To Love Standard Plusses

My guess would be that this is one of the benefits of adding at-will and per-encounter powers. For instance, if your gloves give you some new attack ability, you aren't comparing it to a vanilla attack - you're comparing it to Careful Strike (an at-will Ranger ability, granting an attack at +4...

    Questions for the designers.

You owe me a new keyboard. I can only imagine what the 'Ecology' section will look like

I'd like to propose a few more specific buzzwords: "Layer Cake": The individual layers of a layer cake aren't all that high, but when you keep stacking them up, you can build something ridiculously tall. Similarly, you might not have a problem with a suit of +5 armor, or with a +5 amulet of...

    Questions for the designers.

I think a dragon with rusty, corroded scales would be AWESOME.

How I Stopped Worrying and Learned To Love Standard Plusses

In my mind, it's about quantity and clarity. Quantity: there are only three +X slots in 4E, as opposed to basically all of them in 3E. Clarity: the 4E rules prescribe (supposedly) exactly what +X a character 'deserves' at each level. Also, there are no questions about which +X's a character...

How I Stopped Worrying and Learned To Love Standard Plusses

Just want to chime in with support. I'm not sure that I am going to houserule away the +X weapons/armor/cloak - my gut instinct is that the removal of the generic "+X Enhancement/Natural/Luck/Sacred Bonus to Y" is going to be good enough. Still, removing the +X from the weapon/armor/cloak and...

It's also important to remember that characters are going to have an array of at-will and per-encounter powers. Magical items which cost an action to activate, rather than boosting an action which you are already doing, will seem a lot less powerful in comparison, even if you load up a character...

    Is a Horse Still a 10 by 10 creature?/Should there be facing?

Personally, I like the way that HeroScape just has two sizes of bases: 'regular' (one hex) and 'large' (two hex). You would be surprised how big of a figure you can fit on something that size if you are creative with the sculpt.

    Stun/Paralysis effects

When I think more about it, I think that an incentive system for doing well as the monsters would only be fair for scenes that are laid out ahead of time with only one PC active. Otherwise, every time a TPK was coming, the players would fall all over themselves to get killed first so they could...

D&D 4E Will I Be Able To Continue My Campaign In 4E?

Tangent, but I was thinking just recently about the comment in Races and Classes about how they considered things like cat-people but were worried about the 'furry factor'. It sort of makes me think: if you were going to make anthropomorphic animals into PC races, why do something as boring as...

    Stun/Paralysis effects

That sounds like a really good idea, although I would try to come up with some kind of reward structure for defeating the party. I'm just a jerk that way :]

    Currency in a POL setting

It doesn't really matter to me, but I would think something like a 'gemmed coin' could work. Imagine a coin made of some metal, with sockets for a certain number of small, standard-sized gems. It would be produced at a royal mint, just like any other coin, except that it is studded with a...

    Zee Planes Boss!

I have to say, I was initially worried, but the more I hear about the 4E cosmology, the more I like it. I was a huge fan of Planescape 2E, and so removing the Great Wheel and the Inner Planes was looking like a big problem. But really, when I think about it, it was the Factions and their...

    New Mindflayer Info

Yes. When the dragon became bloodied (reduced to 50% of max hp, meaning it had 500 left(!) in the dragon's case), it got a chance to use its breath weapon as an immediate action.
