D&D 5E (2014) The Decrease in Desire for Magic in D&D

And that is a good thing to my thinking.

And then it could be basically part of a skill challenge

D&D 5E (2014) The Decrease in Desire for Magic in D&D

This definitely has thematic value even if you can still get only the most powerful options within the more limited list, but it makes it easier to balance to so that happens less. Easy multiclassing kind of defeats the concept quite a bit.

D&D 5E (2014) The Decrease in Desire for Magic in D&D

How about file the numbers off the weapons entirely and only include actual interesting effects, like my flame tongue converts its damage to fire damage and gives me fire resistance.

Oh so having balanced spell lists has a value....

Then when the DM said we are going to use my custom setting that is sort of like that one its not a huge jump... I kind of like that idea

D&D 5E (2014) The Decrease in Desire for Magic in D&D

I think the ubiquitous multi-classing does not help on that score either. 4e started with as many martial classes as casting ones including the ranger without magic. ... Pure martial further received a ton of support in a very short time in books like Martial Power I and II. Although you very...

5e technically monks are magic users right? I like how Level Up really made the martial artist, ummm martial and using the same resource as other martials aka exertions (they made a parent class called Adept and Warrior Monk as an archetype).

D&D 5E (2014) The Decrease in Desire for Magic in D&D

I called getting "sleep" winning the spell lotto (now that I have amnesia its a win in real life LOL) ... and you might start as the party bazooka/nuke and go up or start darn ineffectual depending on that lotto. Martial types were highly dependent on the DM providing magic items particularly...

D&D 5E (2014) Battlemaster and Superiority Dice are causing martials to suffer.

It seems to be very Gygaxian adversarialism to me.

D&D 5E (2014) Battlemaster and Superiority Dice are causing martials to suffer.

I think I now get it... Not the same but for some reason it reminds me a little of the Highlander card game. On your turn you indicate who you are attacking and whatever other details (I think they had some which were played face down but it has been many years since I played) AND the enemy...

I didnt read well, because you clearly indicated anytime when they move away so its resolved all on the turn of the reactor. A monk weaving through the battle triggers opportunity attacks and ripostes against each. Is riposte on your concept list?

So not normally (unless some ability makes it so)

Shrug, people with classes are rare in my world, and so mid fight healing would be too( I assume most priests and similar are ritualists even who actually have to spend time on performing a healing.). The monster manual has what one instance of healing word although there are more where someone...

D&D 5E (2014) Battlemaster and Superiority Dice are causing martials to suffer.

And I didnt say it wasn't useful (removing disadvantage is variable in value sometimes about 1/3 or sometimes 1/5th of an attack worth statistically it may pan out but may not and if you plan on investing in the second attack otherwise that may be a good gambit) but your 3 attacks claim is...

D&D 5E (2014) Battlemaster and Superiority Dice are causing martials to suffer.

Yup you pretty much had to learn it in those few rounds prior none of this but you have fought a dozen adventurers and know they often get up/have second winds or get inspired by the Bard/Cleric stuff It is really just a DM using metagame knowledge....

while potentially under attack.. instead of using dodge actions or closing to someone else they might knock out of the fight? sigh, its just dm sadism LOL adventurer-ish, Your monsters have fought loads of heroes and survived have they? My game world leaves adventurers much more special...

I often wonder about all these monsters learning things in 3 round fights. How often have they fought people able to do these extraordinary things?
