D&D 5E (2014) What Does a Strength 20 Look Like (In Real Life)?

I did not claim great similarity however Chess was a war game ahem, It was mentioned to demonstrate that games do not need high flux random to be interesting and craps is not much like D&D either but they demonstrate that high end dice impact is not necessarily "exciting" to everyone I actually...

D&D 5E (2014) What Does a Strength 20 Look Like (In Real Life)?

Yup only spell casters are allowed to be legendary Stunts/Skills are effectively the martial spells and if skills and attributes both become very nearly static like they have there is no foundation for any kind of real advancement we have stalled progression

D&D 5E (2014) What Does a Strength 20 Look Like (In Real Life)?

Chess is anything but boring to me and randomness is not rewarding to everyone... in fact I do not feel like I accomplish anything playing a game of craps. It seems to me your characters skills and your design choices AND even your action choices have significantly less meaning than random...

D&D 5E (2014) What Does a Strength 20 Look Like (In Real Life)?

Not just fight but ... fight super genius firebreathing monsters the size of houses armored like a tank who challenge not just strength The feats of endurance performed by legendary characters like Beowulf and Cu Cuhlaine do beat Olympic records and someone travelling with them might find...

D&D 5E (2014) What Does a Strength 20 Look Like (In Real Life)?

For me bounded accuracy killed the sense of progression for skills... its relatively ok in combat which has hit points dealt and multiattacks but 4 bips on a d20 is bleh. In effect there is barely anything you couldnt do near the beginning of the second tier that you can do at level 20

Because adventuring is demanding? In fact that my saving throws are pretty much not all improving I find far more odd,

That means chaos means more (does not sound good to me)

D&D 5E (2014) What Does a Strength 20 Look Like (In Real Life)?

There are more non-abstract clues for Strength at least (even IQ is somewhat nonsense in the real world it might as well be abstract),

D&D 5E (2014) What Does a Strength 20 Look Like (In Real Life)?

I think you could just have said all of them... generalized level based skill advances up to 15 and since you start out closer to level 5 analog in general (and being trained in a skill is 5pts) If we are extrapolating to the levels that 4e did not represent while you were gaining that +5 that...

D&D 5E (2014) What is your "Sweet Spot" of Success? (poll)

Unless you are ok with letting allies drown it sounds like a situation which might call for a skill challenge or group check of some sort where everyones actions impact the group success

    D&D General 6-8 encounters (combat?)

And its not necessarily even about being unhealthy when do you bring on your big guns is a decision point that the fighter simply does not have to the degree that the caster does... including paladins which can nova. via battlemaster alone right?

D&D 5E (2024) What if you were in charge of reworking classes for 5.5?

This is where I elaborate what I feel is some of that flavor from the Swordmage as presented the mechanics contribution is not really heavy I think its more capability. Their blades are cutting holes through the fabric of reality and it bleeds elemental effects etc etc...

I do that with Fae races as a matter of norms....

D&D 5E (2014) What Does a Strength 20 Look Like (In Real Life)?

Which means to me boring game play, cause without collapsing temples and gigantic pillars to knock over on bad guys heads and splitting ground and bridges falling out from under you (leaving huge gaps to jump) what is there?

D&D 5E (2024) What if you were in charge of reworking classes for 5.5?

Always thought raising the dead should be an adventure the first time a skill challenge the second time and maybe finally just a ritual but not at bloody 8th level

D&D 5E (2024) What if you were in charge of reworking classes for 5.5?

5e cut up and distributed a lot of the swordmage's stuff but you can never get the kind of ubiquitous practical/tactical teleporting for instance which eventually becomes the norm for the SM.

D&D 5E (2024) What if you were in charge of reworking classes for 5.5?

This almost feels like what the Swordmage was instead of a multiclasser .. its class powers were all distinct and uniquely theirs as an amalgam of swords and magic ie what an eldritch knight really isnt, it is wielding magic in a sense distinct from casting spells but then again that is almost...
