What is your Favorite Version of D&D?

Howdy- Just curious to see who prefers which version on their table. For me, I think 5E with all of its warts is fast becoming my favorite version of D&D. 3.x and 1E would be personal runner ups no douldt. Anyway, Has 5E become your personal fav version of D&D or are you still holding out with...

    D&D 5E (2014) Rise of Tiamat Delayed

Not a big deal, my group is on Episode 5 and episode 6 will probably take a couple of sessions to complete. We play three to four times a month for 6 hours per a session. So by the time HotDQ reached the end, it will be good timing when RoT shows up for sale. Anyway, thanks for posting this info.

D&D 5E (2014) Is the 5e Monster Manual the best MM ever?

Oh I like that lol I have the 5E MM and it is a very good book on the 5E monsters. The art is fantastic too.

SGT Scott's Hoard of the Dragon Queen Campaign AAR

Addendum: As an aside, here is what happened on the return to Hommlet, the players had found maps of where the caravan was heading which was Safeton along the Wild Coast, then by ship to Sanctuary along the coast of the Neverwhere desert. From their the Caravan would travel the Silver trade road...

SGT Scott's Hoard of the Dragon Queen Campaign AAR

Hi- so I recently decided a about four months ago to give 5E a go. I had picked up the Starter Kit from WotC and from there spent two months gathering up a group of players (People that I could tolerate and would not annoy me). The Starter Kit was a nice intro into 5E but I did not play...

    Where do you game?

Howdy- Our group meets up in the most central location which is one of the players house's. But once a month we do a club meet up at a bar/ grill type place. This club not only encompasses our group, but many others that play various versions of D&D. I do agree that playing in public can be a...

D&D 5E (2014) Large Parties - How to Run Encounters

Personally I prefer to run between 4 to 5 players, anymore and the game could get boring as the plaryers await their turn to either roleplay or do combat. Anywho, here my suggestions on running a large party: Index cards, I can not stress just how important they are in keeping the DM's area...

D&D 5E (2014) I'd like to know the thinking behind this....

Totally agree here, But my best advise to the OP is just rule zero the Tieflings out of his campaign. In my campaign, I rule zero'ed out both tieflings and dragonborne because I felt they were not appropriate for my own campaign.

    Your Top Ten RPGs

Would highly recommend Low Life, its kinda like the vermin and refuse have taken over the earth. I dont play Savage worlds but after reading this book I might like to give it a try. In addition, Low Life might perfect as another plane in the Abyss for my DnD 5E campaign. All the creatures being...

    Your Top Ten RPGs

Hi- Well are the RPG's I have played and enjoyed D&D 1E- Simple and fun back in the day. D&D 2E- Enjoyed this edition too, especially the planscape setting. D&D 3.x- My favorite version of D&D with all the cool mechanical bits and classes D&D 5E- Some issues but very customizable for what I...

D&D Fans Rejoice! WotC Releases the 5th Edition Player’s Handbook! (Part 1: Characters)

No problem, its your choice but be careful what you post, the mods here are very heavy handed and hand out infarctions like popcorn if they even get a sniff of thread crapping. Aint like it used to be back in the early days of EN World.

D&D Fans Rejoice! WotC Releases the 5th Edition Player’s Handbook! (Part 1: Characters)

Even though I have railed at time about some aspects of 5E, I still think it is probably the best edition of D&D (and I'm a huge 3.5 fanboy). It is straight forward no nonsense playing of D&D and it is very very customizable to suit your taste. Give this edition a try, I think you will not...

D&D 5E (2014) We are betting a LOT on the DMG.... will it deliver?

This is a good selling point for WotC, include optional rules of play and not only will the people that DM D&D buy the book, but so will players. Then the players and / or DM can add rules rules to their game as they see fit. Maybe this is a good thing, we will see.

D&D 5E (2014) Monster Manual and Players Hand Book Power Levels

No one is attacking anybody little dude, but accusing someone of not playing D&D because they might have a difference of opinion is seriously in poor form. To also add, yes I play 5E, I am DM'ing a 5E campaign so I do know what the 5E classes are capable of. Now my question is have you played...

D&D 5E (2014) Monster Manual and Players Hand Book Power Levels

Hmmmm, I guess it is standard procedure around here that if a poster does not like some aspect of the game, old grog posters come in and say you have not played the game with great amounts of snark. Of course when those old grog posters are called out on such snark, their mod buddies come to...

    D&D 5E (2014) does D&D support 20 man or 40 man raids?

I remember back in the old 1E days when I was in the military, we would have at least 20 guys at the table raiding White Plum mountain, Ravenloft and so on. So as long as the DM is organized and has good command presence you should have no problem running a 20 man adventure. Scott

D&D 5E (2014) Monster Manual and Players Hand Book Power Levels

The fact that when you say Dragon or Devil, players actually cringed at the very thought of even going up against such creatures. In 5E with high powered cantrips, class super powers, not a problem anymore. Oh and if I kick dirt into that demons face I get an advantage right?:p

D&D 5E (2014) as a new DM, how do I handle a group of wanna be thieves?

The Assassins Guild is a DM's best tool in the tool box of DM ideas. If the Rogues guild in your world world is having problems with the players, send a few Assassins their way to teach them a lesson in stealing in guild territory. If the players complain about getting off'ed by the Assassins...

D&D 5E (2014) We are betting a LOT on the DMG.... will it deliver?

Kind of looking forward to the new DMG but as I look at my shelf with 1E, 2E, 3E, and 3.5 (I skipped 4E) DMG's stacked up, I wonder, do I really need another DMG? 5E is just a watered down version of 3.x so I can easily scale items in the DMG up or down as I see fit. And to be honest I really...
