D&D General 5e D&D to OSR pipeline or circle?

Alright, I'm going to bow out of the thread. Saying that I look desperate is pretty much you admitting that you're more interested in trying to bully people then listen to what they have to say. Nice argument ad populum tho.

D&D General 5e D&D to OSR pipeline or circle?

When you oversimplify someone's argument to just house rules (I made three common changes that are listed in the 2014 DMG lol) to make your argument seem objectively correct, you've lost the plot. Why can't we ever discuss each other's different perspectives? Why do people have to frame me in...

D&D General 5e D&D to OSR pipeline or circle?

I disagree. I know what the argument is, I'm not sure why everyone thinks I'm for some reason talking about something I'm not. When I say OSR, I mean the Principia material. No, I do not think that 5E has too many bells and whistles to play that kind of game.

    D&D 5E (2014) BG3 is once again a Platinium Selling Game in 2024, without selling a DLC.

We just gonna' pretend like these studios aren't making a huge profit still? Sorry, I don't think they need to be making more money.

D&D General 5e D&D to OSR pipeline or circle?

Man I hate to say it but this response only really makes sense if you ignore my other post about that included some of the minor rules changes I made. You don't need to gut or house rule big parts of the game, you just need a handful of minor changes. I think the system does matter, but I...

Idk what you mean in this particular case.

D&D Releases Playtest for Updated Artificer

It isn't a waste of money, but I'm not sure we'll find any common ground in a debate, so we'll just have to agree to disagree.

D&D General 5e D&D to OSR pipeline or circle?

I'm sorry but this is a very narrow view on the game. Just because combat takes up a lot of space doesn't mean it's the only thing that's there. On top of that, the new DMG has a LOT of rules for things OUTSIDE of combat, including a complete journey system, basions, and other ideas. The...

D&D General 5e D&D to OSR pipeline or circle?

I think the very first thing you said actually sums this up nicely. Shenanigans with spells is as old as D&D. That's OSR. So if you're doing that in 5E, then how is it really any different? The fact that you're super accepting of my shape water and other creative uses of spells proves that the...

D&D General 5e D&D to OSR pipeline or circle?

Very astute observations that I agree with. I think 5E rewards a GM that has a very "open" mindset or who likes to homebrew, as the core system is simple enough that building on top of it to suit your flavor is a feature, not a bug, of the system itself. I would say 5E offers little direction...

D&D 5E (2014) WICKED character classes and alignments

Would like to make some Wicked-specific subclasses, even though that isn't the spirit of the thread. I would do the Witch herself as a Wild Magic Sorcerer, because of the sleeping scene and how her magic does what it wants too sometimes. Glenda I would make a Bard. Oz could be done...

D&D General 5e D&D to OSR pipeline or circle?

The blank stares are a lot like the Gen Z stare in the classroom, and I feel that hardcore. I've found the best way to do this is to create challenges that require 2-3 steps to resolve by a single character, and I reward use of abilities and spells in ways outside their description but that...

    D&D General Playstyle vs Mechanics

I think it depends on personality and how much of a rule-follower someone is vs someone who wants to improvise on top of the rules.

D&D General 5e D&D to OSR pipeline or circle?

I have never had a problem running 5E like it was an OSR game. It's literally just about tweaking damage and health numbers and encouraging players to think outside of the box with solutions to problems. I've had lots of people explain why you can't use the 5E ruleset for OSR play easily, but...

I got BG3 earlier this month on my new laptop. It is a very good, but overwhelming, game.

D&D Releases Playtest for Updated Artificer

A lot of people throughout this thread for some reason want to boil down an incredibly complex task -- creating new content for D&D that will please many -- and seem to think that a massive company in the form of Hasbro can't afford the expenses or manpower required to actually do said...

D&D Releases Playtest for Updated Artificer

I don't think your observation has any bearing on what's being discussed here. When you solicit public feedback, you are going to get a lot of chafe. That's no reason to not allow feedback on Green and Red selections, and to prevent feedback on some features. It's a really naughty word survey, and as...

WotC makes surveys that manipulates the data in a certain way, promoting their conservative design. It's unfortunate.
