D&D General Muscular Neutrality (thought experiment)

There has to be some benefit to serving these gods or else this entire exercise is no better then a kindergarden discussion. There has to be a perceived positive for the people, even if that positive is "we should all die so no one suffers anymore" etc etc.

D&D General Muscular Neutrality (thought experiment)

You bring up one very good point, which that, if there is a confirmed Good afterlife, the value of life in the eyes of the Neutral faction is a lot more easier to weigh.

D&D General Seeking Input: A moment of prayer for the Ranger

I love love love the idea of the Ranger being able to regain spent HD for the party. That opens up an idea of a Ranger that also SPENDS HD for things to exert themselves...interesting.

D&D General Muscular Neutrality (thought experiment)

Not necessarily. We know that gods are real, but not that good is real. Good is never described as empowering people or being a force, but things do act in the name of a greater good, or try to do good by others. But who determines good? The gods do. What prevents a god of slaughter from...

D&D General Muscular Neutrality (thought experiment)

You are misconstruing my point a bit. It's, if we let you stop evil, we have foreseen that in the future you will lose the safeguards necessary to prevent Evil from returning and winning. But while I slept last night, I had a more fun idea, which was Muscular Neutrality in pursuit of conflict...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 edition questions

A squad of 4 martials looks to be outputting around 200+ damage per round at 11th level. That's pretty damn effective.

D&D 5E (2014) The Illrigger: Why I hate this class and love what it could have been.

This is a concept I use for a class called the "Heresiarch," which I learned a year ago was a real word (and is a cool one at that). At first I was worried that using evil as a source of power wasn't good enough an idea, but I've since come around on it. Glad to see others like the idea as a...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 edition questions

I would prefer granular so 1-20 but that's a lot to ask, so the five benchmarks I'm specifically honing in on are 1, 3, 5, 11, 17. Everything between that is pretty dependent on a host of particulars.

D&D 5E (2014) The Illrigger: Why I hate this class and love what it could have been.

This works but is a little too esoteric for my taste. I think we can do well taking some words that aren't used very much anymore and turning them on their head. Perhaps Praetor might be a strong sounding candidate for the Illrigger's rename. Praetor, Hellion, Conqueror -- these are all names...

Would be wonderful, and ty very much for the benchmarks.

D&D General Muscular Neutrality (thought experiment)

How does it not? You haven't really proven a way my scenario doesn't work, you've instead invented your own scenarios. You're latest point was how does that one person rise up against everyone. Well, why does it have to be one person when it could be a minority? And why do they have to do it so...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 edition questions

Do you happen to have on hand average damage outputs for various classes, or links to threads where I can find that.

The story's more interesting if he doesn't get stopped, and somehow succeeds and continues to succeed. These are stories we are telling after all, not simulations of probability.

D&D General Muscular Neutrality (thought experiment)

People who experienced bad things ARE in danger of becoming evil, that's why therapy is very important. How much domestic violence would be cut down if we all accepted this and tried to heal the people that were hurt in our society instead of pretending like nothing was wrong? Things would be...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 edition questions

Ya Barbarians are pretty monstrous now, I had no idea. I'm just now getting back into game design after a break for a few months. Looks like I need to reevaluate balance for my 3PP and homebrew...

D&D General Muscular Neutrality (thought experiment)

There's nothing probelmatic with that statement. We see it in fiction all the time now; the tragic villain backstory is a popular trope because it rings true. I've been listening to a podcast on dictators recently that goes over their entire lives, and you know what's pretty common between them...

Wait, aren't Frenzy Barbarians a lot better? They get an extra +2d6 so an extra 7 for 26 average each turn.

Savage Attacker! Ty, I knew I was missing something. That's quite the floor raise for the Barbarian. Good for them.
