How the Monsters Have Changed in the 2025 Monster Manual: Arcanaloth

Im not sure what your second paragraph is getting at.

How the Monsters Have Changed in the 2025 Monster Manual: Arcanaloth

To me, that is a plus, not a minus. It makes the creature easy to use, and gives it a clear direction. Use spells as necessary, or add spells as desired. Let me approach this from a slightly different angle. My first real major foray into D&D was 5E. I, and many other noob DMs, hated running...

How the Monsters Have Changed in the 2025 Monster Manual: Arcanaloth

I don't think this is a sensible, logical, or fair criticism. I really don't see the connection at all. 104 hit points at CR 12 literally drops in one round.

How the Monsters Have Changed in the 2025 Monster Manual: Arcanaloth

We have completely different tastes. I think the 2014 version is a very mid statblock, not impressive or interesting or inspiring at all. The 2024 comes off to me way better, more interesting, and more useful.

Jeremy Crawford Interview: The Monster Manual and More

Planar Incarnate is a monster with a stat block. Imo that fits in nicely with occult biblical mythos. The appeal of modern dnd is we can maybe kill god, and tbh I love that. I hate the idea of untouchable deities.

D&D 5E (2024) Grade Knowledge Domain, Green, Yellow, Red?

Best and coolest subclass in the bunch.

D&D 5E (2024) Do you like the Purple Dragon Knight Subclass?

Why doesn't the Purple Dragon get any psionic abilities?

D&D 5E (2024) Bladesinger, is it Green, Yellow, or Red?

I agree with @Zardnaar. It's Green for me, but a waste of space. It didn't need to be updated at all. Would have preferred literally any other Wizard idea.

    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual Organisation

I love the new MM but it is literally the worst organized monster book I have ever read. Whoever decided on this was smokin' the same stuff I do on the weekends. I just don't get it. It literally makes no real functional sense.

D&D 5E (2024) Above the Table Interview with Jeremy Crawford.

I much prefer the new Rilmani, though the middle ones (2E?) are also sick.

D&D General Anyone else notice this?

Have you seen Mearls latest work? Has a novice anc apprentice level for his classes, which preludes his 10-level classes.

D&D 5E (2014) So 5E is the Successor to AD&D 2nd Edition? How and How Not?

IME game works way better WITH magic items. Magic items let me make more intense encounters and let me put more stuff in between long rests. The game runs fine without them, but with them, I can get away with some truly epic things at ALL levels.

D&D 5E (2024) Is anyone at WOTC paying attention to what they print any more?

I HATED 4E stat blocks, but 5R stat blocks are a great in-between of 4 and 5E IMO. They read very well.

D&D 5E (2024) Above the Table Interview with Jeremy Crawford.

You had a stat block for each of them and players could hop in and do different parts of the stat block (if I recall correctly). Soul Coins could also be spent for stuff. They had some good diversity in models.

    D&D 5E (2014) A death save house rule proposal

If you make it Prone at the end of your next turn, that's at least two turns Prone which IMO feels less absurd then falling Prone, getting up, etc. over and over again.

Wizards of the Coast Releases Day 1 Errata for Monster Manual

Sometimes it feels like people think that professionals shouldn't ever make mistakes. An idealist fantasy, that one. Anyone whose ever written hundreds of pages knows that there have to be typos within.

    D&D 5E (2014) A death save house rule proposal

Interesting thread, and I like the ideas posited. I'm not sure if I agree with a successful save leaving you at 0 and "stable." I think if you succeed you should regain 1 HP, but be forced to stay prone until the beginning (or end) of your next turn. Otherwise I think the refinements on this...

D&D 5E (2024) What is With Poison?, and Other PHB Conundrums.

I think that's a bit extreme though. There are a huge amount of humanoids not only in the MM but also in your average campaign. If you are playing a game heavy in Fey, Dragons, Undead, or Monstrosities, Charm Person was already going to be rather useless. If you're playing a campaign that has...
