    D&D 5E (2024) Pirates - more detailed firearms rules

When I ran Curse of Strahd and one of the players found the "musket" in one of the cellar tombs, I knew I wanted to make it more special than your standard weapon on the Weapons chart. So I basically took all the rules for a Wand of Lightning Bolt and used those for the "musket", just changing...

D&D Launches New Eberron-Themed Playtest With Dragonmarked Feats

If only all players could be that level-headed about what appears in their D&D books.

D&D Launches New Eberron-Themed Playtest With Dragonmarked Feats

House Cannith is the manufacturing dragonmarked house, although they most likely would not actually make firearms that shoot bullets (as others have said.) They made their money during the Last Wars creating cheap wands that standing armies would use instead (considering they had much less...

D&D Launches New Eberron-Themed Playtest With Dragonmarked Feats

Here is Keith's article on his blog about guns in Eberron. Dragonmarks: Muskets in Eberron, 2024 Edition

D&D General Mike Mearls sits down with Ben from Questing Beast

Because the whole point of using the term "catching lightning in a bottle" is because it isn't repeatable. It was complete luck that you did it the first time, it's not something you can plan to do so again.

D&D General Do You Use "D&D" As Code For "RPGs"?

Probably have, but can't remember for certain. Context I'm sure would have mattered whether I did or not. If I was talking gaming or hobbies or entertainment with people, I probably would have said 'roleplaying game' as the context would be more clear as to what I was referring to. If I was...

    D&D 5E (2024) Its The Same Game Right? 5.0 Options in 5.5

Good point! I forgot about all the players who just show up here to say WotC sucks and that they're glad they aren't spending any money on the game. As though any of the rest of us actually gives a rat's ass whether they are buying D&D product or not, LOL. It's like those people who call up...

    D&D 5E (2024) Its The Same Game Right? 5.0 Options in 5.5

Oh, believe me... I see probably 90% of all the complaints given by people here on EN World as nothing more than DMs who are either just desperate for WotC to pat them on the head by insinuating that the rules those DMs want are the right rules and they'll prove it by printing them in the books...

D&D General Mike Mearls sits down with Ben from Questing Beast

WotC lucked into having both. 5E14 wasn't put into production expecting to make the money it did, that was just a happy accident. So the extended question would be which other TTRPGs make a lot of money while also being player-driven? The only issue though with trying to answer that question...

And not surprisingly, the only game that is owned by a publicly-traded company I believe. So no other games have that Sword of Damocles over them. D&D 5E14 is actually the lone outlier as far as WotC is concerned. All the other editions (3E, 3.5, 4E, Essentials, 5E24) were all designed with...

D&D General Mike Mearls sits down with Ben from Questing Beast

Of course not. Because no other TTRPGs make any money. The designers make them just to get it out of their system. ;)

    D&D 5E (2024) Its The Same Game Right? 5.0 Options in 5.5

It also doesn't help that a lot of DMs are just exceedingly lazy, although they refuse to admit it. Tell them they would actually have to just merely remove the Animal Empathy or Scry ranks from the prestige class themselves to make it available rather than the book doing the work for them...

D&D General Mike Mearls sits down with Ben from Questing Beast

Well, it makes sense. At the time Mike et. al. were working on 5E no one at Hasbro really cared because they didn't expect anything financial to come of it. So it was all just the D&D team trying to make a game that would please as many players as possible. But now that D&D 5E is actually a...

D&D General Dual Wielder, Two-weapon Fighting, Nick

@Cap'n Kobold has most of how I interpret the rules so I think that's good to go. Although there was another scenario with the dual-wielding that they didn't mention that at least from how I am interpreting the rules seems like it could also apply: Taking the Attack action with a Light weapon...

    D&D 5E (2024) Why are you still playing D&D?

The irony of course being all the people who stay within the curated walled garden of apps... and yet complain about the "official" apps they get given and how they aren't very good. ;) This is why I always tell people to switch to "Android" and then take a little bit of time out of their day...

D&D 5E (2024) Should Saving Throw DCs just be Ability Scores?

If using Ability Scores actually matters to someone, then sure, try it out. If someone doesn't care whether the Ability Scores are "used" in any fashion or not, then there's no reason to switch.
