To answer the question - no I already have 3E D&D.

Adventure ideas, plot and npcs are universal. Their adventures have always been their strongest suit and plugging in encounters (ie stats) for your game of choice is simple.

I think this is 100% on target. I have been guilty of this myself. It can be extremely hard to get out of the DM frame of mind.

I'm pretty wary of Hackmaster after the first Hacklopedia of Beasts was released as 9 separate volumes priced at $20 each. I've sold off most of my Hackmaster 1E stuff (save the GMG) but appreciate that they may have produced a worthy product at last with the new HoB. Time will tell.

I really wish the piazo boards would take this advice to heart. Navigating their boards is annoying beyond belief due to the massive number of sub-forums. Love the re-alignment especially... Being able to do this!!!!! I was only lukewarm on the whole thread icon thing but this is beautiful...

As someone who doesn't frequent the big box book stores (Chapters/Coles/Indigo is the big chain here in Canada) I see this as a golden opportunity for small bookstores to thrive. Many already are (in my hometown there is a 'mom & pop' bookstore that has been in business for 40 years and still...

There was a user on this very board who said WotC releasing 4E was akin to them shooting his dog. And he was dead serious. So, yeah Mearls probably was asked why WotC shot someone's dog. It wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Birchbark Heroes vs. Tomb of Horrors. I think this is new and it was pretty darn funny (especially all the ways they try to get past the green devil face).

Make sure your DM looks at just how many hps higher level critters get. He will be begging you do to more damage to the monsters just so combats can end before the 3 hour mark by 6th level.

Ah. While I own the main v2 book I pretty much despised it (aside from the magic system). Didn't even realize alignment was taken out of v2.
