Respect to Mr. Gygax and Mr. Arneson

If Arneson and Gygax are gods of gaming, they are dead gods. Arneson leaving TSR in the late 70's and Gygax letting TSR out of his control have made them irrelevant to the RPG sceen today. Nothing they say or do is ever going to affect the RPG industry ever again. They are not responsible for...

    Intimidate with STR

You still do have that option, and you can easily spend the points for Intimidate, but you should NOT be as good as someone who's very charismatic at intimidating people. Big stupid brutes pounding their chests are not as scarry as a man who is good with words convincing you that if you do not...

    Romance in RPGs

I enjoy the romantic relationships two of my characters have in games right now. Both are in love with NPCs, one is open about it and the affection is returned, the other keeps his love a secret from the NPC.

What direction to go with my epic-level Eberron warforged artificer?

Man, you need half-dragon, half-celestial. And start hitting up those divine ranks!

How do you protect your gaming books?

I protect my books by never letting anyone else borrow them.

    Wizard Advice for New DM

Sure, at 5th level the wizard enters the Fireball Age. At that point, the wizard alone can win fights, and end threats before they begin. They shift and become a potent force against a large number of mooks, which is death to a lower level wizard.

    Wizard Advice for New DM

Teach him how to use his bow, that's pleanty good for a low level wizard, specially one with a 30 point buy, his dex should be very high.

    Wizard Advice for New DM

Lemme get this straight, 3rd edition is a broken power gamers game, yet wizards are to weak? What f'ed up house rules were they using that made 2ed ed wizard powerful at low levels?

    Gygax's views on OGL

The problem, however, is that he only games with the material he personally wrote over 20 years ago. That's sorta like a TV marketing exec watching 100 hours of "Howdy Doody" and saying he's in touch with children's programing. That -defines- being out of touch, and it's precisely what is...

    DriveThru Reviews Please

You know what's funny? My bootleg copy of Gamma World I snagged off a P2P client is a better quality version than the version through Drivethrurpg. It even has bookmarks.

Copyright and RPG PDFs and DRM

No, DRM doesn't violate fair use, because in the case of a DRM protected PDF, you are NOT buying a book, you are purchasing a license for software.

SJ Games to DRM: "Not on our PDFs!"

I wish I liked SJ games more, because I really like their company. Always have.

    INT-Increase and Skillpoints

When you level up to 4, you choose your stat adjustment before skills, so you get the additional skill point at that level, but unlike con, points are gained retroactivly.

    Converting Psionics to Spells

You really shouldn't turn psionic powers into spells, because then you lose the reason for people to play psions. If you want to create such a PrC, make levels of arcane magic and psionic power classes a requirement.

    Richard Garfield vs. Gary Gygax

You never remember the inventors of things, you remember the ones who made an assload of money off it first.

    Richard Garfield vs. Gary Gygax

I think Gygax twists some things around, there's a bunch of stuff I've read that he's written only to find a second version of events from people who worked with him and around him.

    Richard Garfield vs. Gary Gygax

Actually, without Gygax, Arneson probley would have done something with his Blackmoor game eventually, or showed it to someone else who did what Gygax did to it. Arneson actually invented the game, Gygax was the one who did something with it.

Trying to hit my friend with Rays

I recall reading an offical FAQ of some sort, but when and where I cannot recall. If you try to hit a willing target with a ranged attack, you aim at a AC of 10.
