    Hide in Plain Sight

There's no RAW why not, since the existence of a shadow doesn't depend on your ability to see it. (And nothing in the rules indicates that you don't also see normally when using dark vision.) If that somehow offends your sensibilities, remember that its a supernatural ability. So, can they...

    Making your own "Sweet Spot"

That's always been an issue, though, even with XP costs.

    Seafaring characters

Offhand, I know that at least one of them is owning a decent sized boat.

    Transfer Dweomer

The material component seems excessive. 3.5 seems to assume that the magic item marketplace is pretty free, so you could simply buy the weapon in the first place for the cost given, and still have the old item left over. There'd never be a case when using this spell would be a good idea. Now...

    Fighter 1 Max Damage

You could use the regular orc instead of the half orc for an even bigger strength. (It's LA +0, just like the half orc.)

    Making your own "Sweet Spot"

There are already XPless systems which deal with this. Typically, you have some sort of reserve to pay for crafting items, paying XP costs, and so on. You could also let people buy action points w/ this reserve, to throw nonspellcasters a bone.

Encumbrance - how strict are you?

In the past I've only tracked it for those with low Str scores, or when someones carrying a ridiculous amount of stuff. Normally the people carrying the most stuff have a decent str and are wearing heavy armor anyway, so it'll seldom make an actual difference.

Movement in an Illegal Space + Invisibility/Darkness

It's one of those quirks of a turn based system; in a "real" situation the invisible creature would be able to move out of the square as you moved into it. I'd say that if the invisible creature commits to moving out of the square as its first action next turn, then it can allow someone into...

Sneak attacks vs Concealment, balance or common sense ?

Um, because they're rogues? ^_^ I think the point is that rogues are specially trained and/or naturally adept at being sneaky bastards, and part of that is (traditionally) sneaking about in the dark and stabbing people. The fact that your average rogue can't do this in D&D is what seems odd...

    Psions vs Wizards : DCs

It's only possible (outside of epic play) to use two metapsionic feats by somehow acquiring two psionic foci. There's a feat that lets you store an extra focus in your psycrystal, for instance. The flip side is that most metapsionic feats cost 2pp less than the equivalent level increase would...

    Purpose of Alignment

I would say that the alignment system is there for people who don't really want to think about the moral aspects of the game. If the simplistic nature of it bothers your group, then you've already surpassed the need for it. Of course, things get more complicated if the DM and players have...

Do you let Magic Missiles destroy Mirror Images?

Out of curiosity, what happens when you target each wizard with one missile? I'd say that RAW, the whole spell fails, since the collection of targets chosen is invalid, but is that how you'd actually run it?

    Psions vs Wizards : DCs

Something which hasn't been pointed out yet: Psions don't have an exact equivalent of the Spell Focus feat. Rather, they have 2 feats which grant +1/+2 on your DC, but only if you expend your psionic focus. Since psions can't raise the DC and apply metapsionics at the same time (without...

Do you let Magic Missiles destroy Mirror Images?

Yes, even though the RAW clearly don't allow you to target a figment with magic missile. I consider it part of the magic of the mirror image spell. It seems to be the intent, too, judging from the FAQ. It's an iconic spell, so I don't mind special casing it. ^_^

    Ray of Stupidity?

I think it's better to alter how the "ability score=0" mechanic works than going around altering all the spells/abilities which deal ability damage. Most of them are balanced fine, except when they result in an instant kill. Ray of Stupidity, for instance, is probably intended to take down...

How can a Wall of Force be made frictionless?

Hmm, I'd have to say a Wall of Force would be frictionless, if the topic came up. That means there's no way to climb it, or to walk properly along one if it was laid sideways. I mean, it's a uniform field of force; there's nothing to rub against to produce friction.

    -1 LA race?

Szilard's idea sounds interesting as well. I think I came up w/ 3 of them, but I'm not sure how balanced they were. ^_^ From what I remember, they were gravetouched (take on some of the penalties of a zombie), sunbound (a template which gives penalties when underground, so most of the time...

    Magic Missiles vs Mirror Image

Come on, it's not like the caster and the mirror images are superimposed bosonic wave functions. They're still visual images with a distinct location in space. And, obviously, they don't all have the same location, because then it would make the spell bloody useless. You can use this spatial...

    Ray of Stupidity?

A lot of monsters have very low ability scores, and ability damage tends to interact with this in an unbalanced way. In the base rules, there are very few ways for PCs to deal ability damage, and most of them are high level. So it doesn't really matter that a T-rex has a low int, or that most...

    Magic Missiles vs Mirror Image

The current "official" approach to the Mirror Image spell seems to be that it's a special case. A lot of the standard RAW are effectively overruled when it comes to that spell, in order to make it's mechanics match the intent. So while Hypersmurf's interpretation certainly jibes with the rules...
