By all means, don't wait. You don't even know how long you'll have to wait, since there's no release date for WotC's VT, yet. If you want something that is cross-platform, easy to install and to use, supports audio, and has a Lobby feature for finding games and players, take a look at...

Battlegrounds has a growing number of artpacks available for it, some for sale, some for free, that make a GM's life a lot easier. They no longer have to go hunting around for a lot of commonly-used things, or resize them in a graphics app prior to use to conserve bandwidth. Just look at this...

Battlegrounds (see the link in my sig) is worth checking out. It supports all manner of RPGs and boardgames, with no scripting or XML editing required.

Battlegrounds is designed with the face-to-face user in mind. It has a "hidden-until-you-need-it" interface and a full-screen map mode to heighten the immersion factor. The updated User Manual, which you can download from here, has a section on using Battlegrounds in face-to-face game sessions...

Someone seems to be giving it a try. But do we really need 3D pog-style tokens?

There are actually around 60 virtual tabletop programs (click here for links to all of them). Most are already available, but a handful are still in beta. WotC only needs to put an official WotC/D&D logo on their VT, and even if their VT has minimal functionality compared to what's already...

There are VTTs (e.g., Battlegrounds) that are designed to support offline play in face-to-face games, using a projector, HDTV, or large LCD screen for the players to view the action. In effect, a digital battlemat. Doesn't look like WotC's Virtual Table is particularly well-suited to this sort...

Has anyone tried the zombie re-theme of Dominion, called Zombinion? I like the zombie theme much more than Dominion's medieval theme. And I just made a version of Zombinion that can be played online.
