D&D Campaign Settings you have played most in your life

Homebrew for most of my gaming years. Forgotten Realms for one short campaign (maybe 3-4 months). Ravenloft for about a 6 months-ish. Dragonlance for a few sessions (the party got misted off to Ravenloft and never made it out). That's about it, at least for D&D settings. But, my homebrews...

Editions of D&D you have played the most in your life

Let's see... BECMI - I started D&D with the Mentzer "Red Box" Basic Set and continued playing it for around 5 years. AD&D 2nd Edition - I skipped 1E and went straight to 2E from Basic. This one I played for about 4 years before taking a break from D&D to play World of Darkness and Palladium...

Thundarr the Barbarian as a D&D setting

I have done that very thing, actually. Thundarr was one inspiration among many, but the setting was post-apocalyptic Earth and featured orc motorcycle gangs prowling what's left of the highways and ruined cities infested with aberrations and undead.

D&D 5E (2014) Why the fixation with getting rid of everything but fighter/cleric/rogue/wizard?

While I think only four classes would be a bit constrictive, about a dozen is the sweet spot for me. A class, to me, is a fairly broad concept that can then be narrowed to specific niches with subclasses. The only reason, IMO, for a new class is if there is a broad concept (say, psionics) that...
