Which is your favourite type of character to play?

I've played all those types and enjoyed all of them about equally. When I'm creating a new character I usually pick a type that I haven't played much recently, or that no one else in the group is playing. Where my preferences come in is in ability scores. I like to play characters with good...

    Mountains

My mountains are the Appalachians. They're some of the oldest mountains in the world. Compared to the Rockies they're probably just foothills, with the highest peak being only about 6600 feet above sea level. I've been to the top of that mountain, Mount Mitchell, although it's mostly a drive...

    Thread won't open

Works fine for me. Have you tried either clearing your browser cache or doing a "hard" refresh (shift-refresh on most browsers)?

    Not logging out...

FWIW I occasionally experience "stale cookies" with EN World. I usually notice it when the "Mark, This Forum Read" button doesn't work. It also prevents me from logging out. Manually deleting my cookies has always solved the problem. In fact I experienced stale cookies just today. Deleted...

Lots of stuff still not working?

Is there anything anyone else can do to help you out with any of this stuff? I can't program, but if there's stuff to be done looking for broken links, or data entry type things, I'd be glad to lend a hand.

Can we Get a Poll on Book Indexes?

Ahh, but with a poll we could send WotC an e-gram saying "According to a non-scientific poll conducted on EN World, 98% of gamers want indexes in their books, and 2% aren't very good at clicking the correct box in polls."

Can we Get a Poll on Book Indexes?

I'm all for indexes. The more complete the better. Indexes are important to me both for rules-intense books and for books that are more flavor-oriented. In either case there is almost always some piece of information that gets tucked away in a spot that seems to defy the organization of the...

    [Forgotten Realms]Help with names.

The racial variances in Thay is a subtlety I hadn't picked up on. It's already given me an interesting idea for an NPC. Thanks KaeYoss and Darkness.

    [Forgotten Realms]Help with names.

If there were a method to Realms names (and from the previous posts it appears there isn't), I'd expect there to be significant overlap between Thayan names and Rashemi names, since the Thayans are of Rashemi descent. There might also be an overlap between Mulhorandi names (which are ancient...

    d20 Past Question-

Softcover? Wasn't there a big to-do a few years back that Wizards wasn't doing softcovers anymore, that they didn't sell as well, etc.?

Why no index is new WotC books? *Update: Received "official" answer... kinda...*

And it's not as if WotC has never done a good index. The FRCS has a great index.

For our non-English speaking friends on the board...

What I'm wondering is which English-speaking country is supposed to have problems with rampaging lions. Because if it's the one I'm in, I think I want to move.

    Expanded gaming spending poll.

Well according to Quicken I spent a hair over $1700 on RPGs in 2004. Just for kicks I checked to see how much I spent on groceries, and it's actually about $200 less than I spent on RPGs. As I said in the other thread: Hi, my name is Talus, and I'm addicted to buying RPGs. Oh, and just for...

Why no index is new WotC books? *Update: Received "official" answer... kinda...*

Thanks for posting that, Reveal. So, maybe if a bunch of us complain they'll get the message and give us indexes again. Hopefully good ones too, like in the FRCS, not halfway done ones like in the 3.0 core books.

Top Ten Reasons for DMs to Buy Lost Empires of Faerun...

Yes, but Wizards had to do something with all the game stats they'd written for The Complete Book of Keebler Elves. Since it was mostly Keebler's refusal to let WotC print recipes even for long-cancelled product lines that killed the deal, a slight poke at Keebler is to be expected.

Why no index is new WotC books? *Update: Received "official" answer... kinda...*

The best possible excuse I can see for building an index being too expensive is if they break each chapter of a book into a seperate file. I had to build an index once for an employee manual that was broken up that way, and it made a straightforward process into a real pian. (This was probably...

Why no index is new WotC books? *Update: Received "official" answer... kinda...*

Maybe I'm remembering the wrong program, but doesn't MS Word have a built in indexing tool? Not a "find every instance of the word 'magic'" kind, but one where you can tag specific instances of words for inclusion in the index? With such a tool I'd think it could be an author's...

    "Must..have...more...books!"

Yeah, those started to really get me in trouble towards the end of the year when it seemed like every D20 company out there was having a clearance sale. The biggest downside was that I've yet to read most of those books. Kind of like when the CD club would send that initial shipment of 20 CDs...
