    combining variant rules?

Apply DR first, then do damage conversion on what remains. Good luck. P.S. The Defense Bonus is a fun variant for characters to not wear armor and still be effective. This trifecta could actually make for an interesting decision about whether or not you wear armor.

How can I stall combat for a couple rounds?

Then please stop it, because you're mostly wrong. Hustling is a name for Double Move (or vice verse), and you can't double move twice in the same round.

Looking for a Good First Timer RPG

Really? I don't know a single gamer that doesn't tell stories about their games. They may not be about the plot, but they are about the games. Epic fights, scary traps, stupid players (and player characters), kewl loot, awesome powers, great jokes, party wipes, freaky mysteries, maddening...

    D&D 3.x Questions (3.5ed)

It is also valid for 3.5, as the content it is based upon received one of the "update docs" that didn't actually change the key parts of Pun Pun. For those, like myself, that had never seen Pun Pun described, I'll cover it in brief. Be a Kobold (for the reptilian sub-type without a level...

Looking for a Good First Timer RPG

Nothing teaches like watching people play. The essentials of role-playing are the same, no matter what system you use. The core of it is to tell a story, one that won't always go the way you want due to other characters and the random resolution feature that almost all systems have. The rules...

How can I stall combat for a couple rounds?

The DM always has this power. Roll your dice in secret. That way, your players don't know you are keeping them alive(ish). Don't have random encounters. Those tables are dangerous, imply a very dangerous world, exist solely to kill PCs, and I've seen more PCs die to random encounters than I...

    Recommendations: adventures/modules for Trailblazer

Yeah, that's the one page of the .pdf that I always have printed out and handy, even though I have a print copy to flip through! Re: PC Toughness Those one-time hp at first level have been a huge difference, leaving the PCs just able to fight through. The 10 minute rest has been the key to my...

    Less complicated shifter rules?

Not really. It lets them punch (for taking prisoners), grapple, and trip without provoking, generally turning them into a race of once / day bad@ss barroom brawlers. It's an odd thing to give them, one I wouldn't have if I'd been designing them, but it makes them extremely flexible and...

    Recommendations: adventures/modules for Trailblazer

I've been running four players through The Shackled City adventure path and it's been a blast. They just wrapped up chapter 4 last night, and we've only had one PC death (and half a dozen close calls), all to the random encounter tables. In my experience, just about any module or adventure...

Do you add the ship's Int. when using sensors (SAGA)

You might be confusing Sensors and Weapons. Sensors are a straight skill roll (which includes the tech's Int) with modifiers for range and sensor quality. Weapons are the attacker's BAB plus the ship's Int (modified by size) due to the targetting computer. Good luck.

What do people play more of nowadays?

Mutants & Masterminds 2e. Trailblazer (3.5 variant) is a solid second.

    GM Issues..

Coyote is absolutely correct on this one. NPC PL has almost no relation to the mechanics PCs have. Their PL means "this is what PL this guy happens to work out to", not "this is the PL of a player character". The number of power points NPCs have is immaterial, and (if tracked) is wholly...

Where Did All The Girls Go?

Then pass your Will save, hygiene, and get out there. :p --- For pretty much my entire gaming career I've had one or more women in most of my gaming groups. Just treat female gamers as Gamers (don't focus on the female-ness, as difficult as it may be) and most of them will react as Gamers...

    Mutants & Masterminds 3rd Edition

No harm, no foul. Hal is a great character. Even with his obscene power, he's never actually bothered me, either. ... :o I never would have come up with that one. I can see it, though.

    Mutants & Masterminds 3rd Edition

Which is what I was trying to say, though not nearly as well as you did. :) I did forget to do the math (it was a long day before that post) about how many power points a PL 14 was recommended to start with. So, I missed that he's actually really close to the recommended 210 / PL 14 starting...

    Mutants & Masterminds 3rd Edition

Really experienced PL 14. If you read the previous preview (number 3), it talks about how these characters have a lot more points than a starting character of their PL (Batman, at PL 12, has almost as many points as a starting PL 19 character would). It's both. Complication is a game mechanic...

What to do with a DM's PC?

I'm currently running a campaign (I'm the main DM, but we switch up when one of the others has a plot they'd like to run) where I have a PC in the party. He's screwed up my plots on a few occasions because the bad guys "didn't know he could do that" and he kept stuff from escaping / happening...

Is there a SW:EE character generator?

I don't know, but you're more likely to find the answer over at the Pinnacle forums. Good luck.
