Brevity - a kind of review

I would probably make it super-simple to run Grappling. Initiate Grapple, resolve as normal. Both parties are Grappled. A second, successful, offensive grapple makes the victim Pinned. Here's the Change: Maintaining a Grapple is a Free action, no check required. Without Improved Grapple, you...

    Underwhelming feats?

Another quirk of Weapon Focus is that the dagger isn't always Focused. It's a Piercing weapon or a Slashing weapon (but not both at the same time, like the Morning star is bludgeoning and piercing), meaning that your weapon focus (piercing) applies, until you fight zombies and use it to slash...

Brevity - a kind of review

Unless you have Combat Reflexes. Which my entire party had taken by level 12.

Game of Thrones / Song Ice & Fire RPG

No clue about the White Walkers. We never ended up dealing with them, and no major NPCs were killed by them - the GM wanted to wrap up the campaign so he could run something else before his daughter was born. I think they were going to be the next threat, stopping them and consolidating our...

Game of Thrones / Song Ice & Fire RPG

SIFRP campaigns run however you want them to. While the game supports the option of following the plot of the novels, the rules work just as well for random mercenary adventurers, wildling raiders, merchant houses of Braavos, officers in a mercenary company, or playing in another setting. Our...

The care and feeding of your Trailblazer book

Scotch tape. Sandwiching it between other tomes. Not a lot you can do. It's not a terribly durable printing, but it's not terribly expensive.

    Need more military help

It's true. Even most artillerymen can't call in close support fire reliably. Being trained for fire direction control, as cannoneers, or other fire support roles does not innately include the ability to call in supporting fires accurately as a forward observer.

    diagonal movement - 1:1 or 1.5:1?

It is Not. The surprising crossing speed is simply because table-top battlefields are so tiny. Skirmishes tend to happen in areas 50 yards or more across, with movement all over the place - that's about 30 inches per side in D&D distance. If moving to a modern battlefield then squad-level...

    diagonal movement - 1:1 or 1.5:1?

Pros: It's easier and faster. It doesn't confuse new players. It doesn't take extra time to explain. Cons: Less "realism"; though the world isn't Orthogonal, so that's a very questionable point. Can make movement around the battlefield surprisingly swift - without changing movement speeds...

    ... That's arguably the best 0-level d20 I've ever seen.

    About using Traiblazer

I think you're worrying about nothing. TB magic that "many spells" casters actually have fewer spells per day than SRD casters. Example: The Sorcerer only gets up to the SRD spells per day by having Bonus Spell Slot as a class feature. Without that feature, he's on the same spell progression...

    TRAILBLAZER - PDF Release - Discussion/Questions/Errata

Use BMB checks instead of Spellcraft! 1d20 + BMB + Key ability + Class Features + Misc. vs. DC. (I have balance issues with that system, largely due to the ability to cast a spell that makes the caster insanely better at casting spells. A 10th level Spellcaster Spellcraft bonus is 24 +...

    TRAILBLAZER - PDF Release - Discussion/Questions/Errata

They figure into the Touch AC part, as Eric Anondson said. So, they should already be a part of CMD. You would be correct. Though only when you can take a Combat Reaction (still have one, have acted this combat, and aren't surprised; or still have one and have Combat Reflexes) and can retain...

    [Weekend Design] New Classes?

Not at all. I really liked the idea behind the Marshal class (miniatures handbook), just not the implementation. It irks me to no end that a 20th level "specialist" class can be outdone by generic 10th level Cleric. :):):):) CoDzilla.

    [Weekend Design] New Classes?

What I'm trying to say was that the class seems to fail to fill its intended niche. It's not a divine-touched martial class. It's a Cleric with a permanent Divine Power spell, and a charge-based Bless instead of normal spell-casting. Honestly, I'd start by dropping the Turn Undead...

Adapting some feats from PF & SW Saga

So why not have the Bodyguard grant the ward Evasion on his save? Much cooler, and it might actually save the 32 hp wizard, unlike taking 74 (37 if he makes his save) damage from the cone of cold. I always hated that. I much prefer Mutants & Mastermind's Interpose - as a reaction you make...

    About using Traiblazer

Interesting, Ragnar. Though dropping from 10 distinct knowledge skills to 8 muddy knowledge skills is not a direction I want to go. Still, a neat list.

    [Weekend Design] New Classes?

Zealot seems like a Barbarian / Bard hybrid. With a Turn Undead that makes Paladins cry. Also, being a Baseline isn't a bad thing. It means that you are the standard against which all others must be measured. That's not a slight or insult.
