D&D General Have you ever retired a character?

Yes, several. The first was a 1e fighter who was killed in friendly fire(ball) incidents and raised at least four times. He eventually decided to give up on adventuring to take up the more placid life of a fisherman, while I moved on to play a wizard.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

A propos of noting... A long time ago in grad school, I read a local crime report that included the phrase "assaulted with a biscuit at Carl's Jr." Sadly I don't recall any other details.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I read, "Flea market exploded." I think, "Mmm, poppy seed muffins." Time for more coffee.

Diamond Distributors Asks Bankruptcy Court For Ownership of Publishers' Consignment Inventory [UPDATED]

Out of curiosity, what sort of assets does a distributor like Diamond typically own? (Aside from the question of the goods on consignment.)

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Sometimes I read a thread, but can't follow it at all. So I check if maybe there are any ignores confounding me, but nope, no ignores. That thread really does just make no sense.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Given what part of the country you live in, the answer is pretty obvious to me:

Judge decides case based on AI-hallucinated case law

This bit really concerns me: Are we looking at the possibility that AI slop threatens to drown even the legal system just because it's too "embarrassing" to deal with? I'm envisioning bad actors exploiting an already creaky system in very detrimental ways.

D&D General DMs, how do you handle 'split party' situations?

I've usually just told the whole group, and don't worry about it too much. Most groups are pretty good about keeping PC knowledge separate from players, and even if they don't it's fine. I think people have more fun when everyone is listening to what happens to everyone else. (It's also less...

    Old shows that you enjoy?

Heh, I just recently watched the old Kolchak TV series a few months ago. I'd never seen it, and never thought to watch it until @Ryujin, i think, mentioned it here several months ago. I'm currently slowly making my way through the 1970s Japanese TV series Zatoichi. A couple years ago, I...

    Realistic Combat that's Simple(ish)

Barbarians of Lemuria, etc, uses a 2d6 attack roll plus attack skill (eg, Melee or Ranged) minus the opponent's Defense skill versus a constant target number, 9. Armor subtracts from damage, ie, soak.

Raiding old western films for a short campaign arc.

3:10 to Yuma (both movies) is a pretty good story about transporting a prisoner from a little local jail to his trial several days' ride away while his gang tries to rescue him, along with a little twist that makes it a bit more than just "fend off the people trying to take our prisoner." I...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I've adapted well to my unsightly ear hairs, and use mine like a cat's whiskers whenever I need to shove my head into small spaces.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Back in high school, i had a friend whose big sister got a boob job. Not long after, he and I were out in his backyard when this sister decided to use their trampoline. The phrase that still haunts me is, "Ow! Ow! They're going everywhere!"

Reaction Emojis currently limited to Thumbs Up?

I'm seeing the same thing. In fact, I'm not seeing any pop-ups at all, such as when I mouse over a user name.

Judge decides case based on AI-hallucinated case law

The intersection of AI and law is a perfectly cromulent topic for the Geek Talk forum.
