    Critical Hits & Ongoing Damage

Except the Cleric casts Divine Regeneration beforehand, and then the Wizard casts cloudkill.

    Critical Hits & Ongoing Damage

Seal of Binding is a hideous mess of ambiguous wording. It is my belief that by the RAI you're not supposed to be able to sustain it if you miss. At the same time, the damage in subsequent rounds is automatic if you sustain and doesn't require an attack roll, so I wouldn't think critical damage...

    Critical Hits & Ongoing Damage

Seal of Binding really is amazing. I'm not sure they could made it more broken by the RAW if they had deliberately tried.

CustServ on "What is 'an attack'?"

Seal of Binding is certainly poorly worded, I'll give you that. It probably should say the creature cannot be affected by any attack or attack power. Otherwise Seal of Binding is utterly overpowered as soon as the Wizard casts a zone that deals automatic damage without an attack roll.

CustServ on "What is 'an attack'?"

There is obviously a definitional problem in the rules. In cases like this I think it's best to look for the RAI rather than the RAW. Is Wall of Fire intended to be an attack? I think so, it's an attack power after all. Are Evasion and the Minion rule intended to refer to the entire attack...

How are you coming up with those damage bonuses?

    Vorpal Crits

I'm really beginning to dislike the way they phrased the rule for critical hits. It creates soooo many inconsistencies and potential problems.

    Sneak Attack + Critical Hit?

Now someone just needs to figure out if you re-roll critical hit damage with a vorpal weapon.

    Wall-E

I won't post spoilers, but I just wanted to say this was an excellent movie. It will be a crime if it's not nominated for Best Picture. Go see it. Now.

So, has anyone played a wizard in full plate yet?

Haven't you ever noticed how combat leaders in movies often wear far less armor than any of the soldiers(so you can see their facial expressions, etc). It fits the theme! :p

    Vorpal Crits

I find it a bit ironic that 4e was supposed to simplify criticals when it seems they are more complicated than ever when you try to maximize their potential.

Can you do a "diamond" shaped blast?

What about a bag of holding full of infinite oregano-covered rats?
  13. Branduil

I cast a blast spell, you say: how high?

The easiest ruling is that it extends as high as it does on a side.

Can you do a "diamond" shaped blast?

Now, an area where there is room for legitimate debate is the height of a blast. That is something which, as far as I can tell, isn't addressed at all in the rules.
  15. Branduil

Can you do a "diamond" shaped blast?

There's nothing in the rules that says I can't have an "I win" at-will power.

Can you do a "diamond" shaped blast?

Infinite Oregano. Some people enjoy eating infinite oregano, and if they want to do that, they're free to do so. But I think arguing it is permitted in the rules requires an intellectually dishonest reading of the rules. It's fairly obvious what the designers intended as far as blasts go. They...

Can you do a "diamond" shaped blast?

Er, yes it is. And either way, they both add up to nine squares. If you use some kind of fuzzy math that results in more than nine squares being effected, you're doing it wrong.

    Platemail sold here for CHEAP!!

In 4e, plate is rare because only Paladins begin the game proficient with it, not because it's expensive monetarily.

    Level scaling

Dragons are supposed to be deadly. And frankly, if your PCs aren't at least trying to flank the dragon for combat advantage they deserve to die.
