Can you do a "diamond" shaped blast?

If you look at a 2 by 2 blast, it looks like one really big square. Therefore, by the RAW I can use a 3x3 blast to cover 36 squares. They're just really big squares. Filled with infinite oregano.

Can you do a "diamond" shaped blast?

It can be interpreted that way, but it's not reasonable, any more than feeding your friends infinite oregano is reasonable.

Can you do a "diamond" shaped blast?

A 3-by-3 square can only reasonably be interpreted as nine total squares.

Can you do a "diamond" shaped blast?

I found an awesome loophole! On page 242 it says "Add oregano to taste!" It doesn't say how much oregano, or what sort of taste! You can add as much oregano as you want! I'm going to make my friends eat infinite oregano and they'll have to do it because the recipe says so!

Do You Need All 4 Roles in a Party?

Yeah, I think the leaders work best when they take on the guys who manage to get past the defender.

Do You Need All 4 Roles in a Party?

The Cleric multiclass feat is a nice option if you have no healers.

    The Orcus Fight Club

Coup de Grace is not an automatic hit. Though with the penalties, reroll abilities, and auto-crit you could still likely kill Orcus in one round.

How to detain an Eladrin Rogue? ie, teleporting

You'd probably just kill hostile spellcasters right then and there.

Ranger should have been Martial Controllers

Martial Controller is not a concept we're likely to see anytime soon, if ever. Most of what people think are controllers are actually strikers or defenders.

How to detain an Eladrin Rogue? ie, teleporting

Oubliettes, narrow hallways, and iron masks seem like the most likely detaining methods, as they would be useful for more purposes than just detaining Eladrin.

Very first thoughts after reading 4e PHB

I only ask because I've heard similar sentiment from people who have only read the books and then when they play it they love it or at least enjoy it.

    My vision for the Barbarian.

That's true, I hadn't though of that. Perhaps it would be balanced if marked enemies did not provoke the attack?

    My vision for the Barbarian.

With "intimidating bulwark" I was picturing something like Lurtz in Fellowship of the Ring, where he pulls Aragorn's sword into him and roars, only instead of Aragorn cutting his head off the enemy is intimidated by his toughness. I'm picturing the Barbarians as a different kind of defender-...

    My vision for the Barbarian.

I haven't started actually designing any powers or abilities yet, but I'm thinking about making a Barbarian class. Here are some ideas I've been playing with in my mind: Primal Defender I envision two paths; A "bloodthirsty brute" path focused on strength, with a lot of powers having extra...

Is Coup de Gras too weak?

It seems like a lot of enemies would survive a Coup de Gras attempt. Furthermore, you can actually miss with them now! I have absolutely no problem with the abstraction of 4e combat, but on the other hand, trying to stab a completely immobile enemy and somehow missing, or somehow not seriously...
