Heroes #14: (Volume 4: Fugitives) A Clear and Present Danger/2009

This seems to be a reboot with promise (and it definitely feels like a reboot) - but after S2 and S3, it pretty much has to have promise. And yeah - Claire is indeed the most annoying character on the show.

    Forked Thread: PS3 v. X-Box 360 - How Loud is Too Loud?"

Heh. Well, not really. The "shame on all of us" comment was putting blame on both sides. I just hate the Internet Literalists more than the Internet Hyperbolists - the way I worded it was just my bias showing! *shrug* Just noting my experience with my 360 (which I do own, BTW), "cropping into...

Forked Thread: Should players know the rules?

Pretty much what you said. I expect my players to know the PHB, front and back. I don't ask them to know anything else, but I do expect them to know the PHB (not necessarily the other classes that they're not playing, but everything else). They don't necessarily need to know the rule(s) by...

    Let's read the entire run

I've been following along, but I think I missed something. What's happening here? We pretty much don't allow evil characters, and we've never seen this nonsensical "good guys engaging in mass slaughter". I can't comment on such wacky games that do have this as I can't even imagine it - such a...

    Forked Thread: PS3 v. X-Box 360 - How Loud is Too Loud?"

Ah, the internet. When even the tiniest bit of hyperbole is present, the literalists come out in force. Shame on all of us, I guess. How is it being "blown out of proportion"? Are you denying the problem exists? Or, alternately: Don't get me wrong. If you feel the need to defend one of the...

    Battlestar Galactica #13: The Oath/2009/Season 4 Finale

Totally agreed. Best part of the episode by far, and very... satisfying. The great thing about this is that I'm not cheering for a side... the more people that get blown all to hell, the better. Really, it's a fight between toaster-lovers and human-killers. I'm loving the carnage, and hope the...

    Forked Thread: PS3 v. X-Box 360 - How Loud is Too Loud?"

Sweet. As an aside: While I haven't looked hard, where is the option to do this? It's not obvious when I play around with the dashboard. (And, as a further aside, how the heck do I delete other profiles I 'accidentally' created, thanks to one poorly-designed 360 game that forced it on me when I...

    Ads appearing anyway

And the more they FF, the fewer they watch ads, and thus the fewer companies give ad dollars to the networks, and voila - same result. I'm watching TV, and not watching their ads. "Theft", supposedly. (Of course it's not.) 'How' isn't relevant to internet consumers. They are doing the same...

Forked Thread: DMs - No one cares how long you worked (was: Rant -- GM Control...)

As in "not never"? You didn't respond to my post. Maybe you quoted mine by mistake? I think it's pretty clear from the outset of this thread that we're only talking about rare cases.

Rant -- GM Control, Taking it Too Far?

We haven't seen goofy names in more than 10 years, because we all agree that they really do break the mood... and we have lots of laughs. Based on your posts, I suspect you haven't seen a lot of things. Account for the tastes of the majority of people? Yeah, sure. How much do we know of the...

Forked Thread: DMs - No one cares how long you worked (was: Rant -- GM Control...)

Take priority over his/her responsibility? Yeah, quite probably. Take equal priority? Hmmm... Now friction is occurring, and things are a lot more grey (and is probably the majority of situations, AFAIC). When push comes to shove (i.e. beyond compromise - which, we all agree, is the first...

    Why No Lost?

The one great thing with how they're presenting time travel is that we are getting more answers, faster. I'll choke down time travel if that's the payoff.

    Ads appearing anyway

I'm glad you've never, ever, fast-forwarded through a television commercial during a show that you've recorded. Good on ya! Keep fighting the good fight! Or alternately, where you're from is the Land of Delusion. Please stop with the foolish statements. It doesn't help what credibility you...

Forked Thread: DMs - No one cares how long you worked (was: Rant -- GM Control...)

And you'd be correct. However, the OP was unclear enough for me to make the statement I did. It's not all black/white extremes that this thread - and the one it was forked from - make it out to be (as much as ENWorld loves that sort of nonsense). The matter is just how much of a say players...

Forked Thread: DMs - No one cares how long you worked (was: Rant -- GM Control...)

Fascinating. My players want to adventure and "play out their character's issues and goals" because I spend time on my "delicately crafted campaign setting". I'm glad my players respect the time I put into the game to improve their fun, and also respect how I get my fun. I feel sorry and hold...

    Fringe #11:Bound/Season 1-2009

Excellent, as usual (though I agree with the goofy giant virus). Thought it wrapped up into a neat little packet a little fast, but that's hardly a complaint. I really liked how Olivia 'questioned' the guy buy showing him the picture of his dead wife. Awesome. And yeah - definitely great...

Battlestar Galactica #12:A Disquiet Follows My Soul/Season 4 Finale

Hot Dog was the father... cool. One of our favorite ancillary characters.

    Why No Lost?

Time travel? Time travel? You suck, Lost. But with that said, the first one wasn't half bad at all, second one was boring. Looks like it'll be a tolerable method of handling time travel (as tolerable as that can be). I have a horrible feeling the majority of this entire season will be about the...

    Wrong facts about D&D3 combat?

Miniatures vastly speed up combat for us. We've been using them long before 3e, and before we used them, combats were much slower. Minis make things go fast for us. Bullgrit's speed of play seems reasonable and comparable to ours.

    PS3 v. X-Box 360: Which Is 'Net Ready?

I've never heard a 360 that didn't sound like a chainsaw. Those that can't tell there's a significant noise difference I suspect are in a tiny minority. (Lucky them, in a way.)
