    Irontooth...owie!!!!!

There's a whole thread about KotS TPKs over here: http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=227871 Most of them are from that encounter.

Racial Feats for Gnomes, Orcs, others

Doesn't the gnome's power make them invisible? Why would they need a stealth check? And if they do need one, since they're already invisible, why would they need a +4?

All Possible Ability Scores for 22 Points

I wouldn't be too concerned with that considering that most people would use the two +1s on their two main abilities, at least until the last set when that may given them an odd number. Also, you could squeeze out 79 if you wanted to. 14, 13, 13, 13, 13, 13 ;) With the +1 to two different...

All Possible Ability Scores for 22 Points

I'm not sure where you get your "pluses" from. That first group gives a +4, +2, and -1 for +5 total. The second group gives +2, +2, +1, +1, and +1, for a total of +7. The most you can squeeze out is +8. 14, 14, 14, 14, 10, 10. You can make the last two in that sequence 12, 8, if you like.

4ed PDFs - Are you still getting the books?

QFT, especially as a DM. I hate going through rulebooks with an errata and a pencil.

Table of ability scores for each PHB race, MM race, and class

It's not from any tables. It's from flavor text within each class build description. The descriptions state which attributes are primary, secondary, etc. See my earlier post in this thread for that info. And as far as which race gets which ability bonuses, well, I didn't research that part...

This from the guy that started all this. ;)

Table of ability scores for each PHB race, MM race, and class

Well, I finished. I weighted abilities thus: Primary*3, Secondary*2, Tertiary*1, Quaternary*.5 So, it resulted in values between 5 and 0. Trying to pick good colors for each numerical value. Does anyone know an easy way to design fill colors based on value? I don't think there is one. I'm...

    KotS Total-Party-Kill!!

Well, I don't know how you run combat, but giving players less time to decide what to do always speeds things up. Remember, though, this was the first time playing with a new rule set so of course things are going to bog down. Honestly, I didn't see anything in your recap that couldn't happen...

    We're back to AD&D1

Just because they don't have "skills" doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to play them. It's supposed to be a fantasy roleplaying game, let the players play what they want, within reason. And the reason should never be, that character is too much different than you, that character is too...

The pendulum swings back: Humans suck once again

It doesn't matter, because no character can start with two 18s using point buy. As I pointed out, they can't even start with two 17s. The differences between one +2 bonus and two +2 bonuses can never exceed 7 points of point buy. The best a second +2 can get you is from 16 to 18, and that's...

Table of ability scores for each PHB race, MM race, and class

This may help you a bit. Here are classes broken down further with Primary Stat and Secondary stat by PHB "build". May I suggest adding a 2* or 1.5* before the Primary stat in the formula to weight it? Heh, then of course you'll have to add a new color, perhaps green for three and a lighter...

Really, No PC Gnomes! Stop Asking!

Gnomes are fully playable. Racial feats will come later in some other book, and with retraining you can pick one up. Heck, I'd imagine most DMs would let you retrain for those for free because you didn't have access to them (like PHB races do) when you would have originally qualified for them...

This just increases my excitement about playing a Gnome Warlord! Muahahhahha!

    Core Handbook Errors Discussion

Actually, spelled out, that would be "ten feet, cubed." But I don't see how "10 foot cube" is confusing anyway. What else could they mean besides a cube with ten feet per side? Especially, considering the context. When would a measure of cubic feet be necessary in this version of D&D? If...

The pendulum swings back: Humans suck once again

I don't think anything really stinks by itself. In comparison to some other combo maybe. The one thing that I've noticed is that there seems to be a smaller gap between sub-optimal and awesome in this edition than in 3.X. You could still have fun playing a Dragonborn Wizard, especially if you...

    Core Handbook Errors Discussion

Maybe it's supposed to say "if the target attacks, the target remains invisible." That would compare to 3.5 and earlier versions. The non-Greater Invisibility probably says that if the target attacks, then the spell effect ends.

    KotS Total-Party-Kill!!

If you're planning on reducing Irontooth's levels, here's some good info if you're going to run before the books are released: http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4ex/20080418a Don't forget to adjust the XP award as well. You may also want to consider just removing a couple of monsters from...

    Lizard Bewbs?

I feel your pain. Your attention to your child is far more important than such things, of course. I knew I was being a bit of a jackass, but not reading threads is a big pet peeve of mine. Besides, five is the perfect age to introduce a child to D&D, lizard bewbage and all. ;) Hmmm... and...
